Just watched the Newcastle game, 2 things that I seen.
1) Newcastle have a startling lack of width, Duff and spiderman are worse than useless. Their strike force is completely fine, but the service they get from the midfield is appauling. Am pretty suprised they didn't go in for Pennant on loan!
2) When they defend, they give their opposition so much time on the ball, Tom Huddlestone had about an hour to spray passes around the pitch and Modric and Lennon skipped pass them with ease. It was like a training session for Spurs.
Sad to say I completely agree with you
Didn't see the match myself (I was on a bus back from ski-ing), but I've seen enough evidence of your two points throughout the season, in particular no. 2, no.1 has built up.
On Duff & Jonas, Duff lost it a while ago, but Jonas came with real promise, and he is using that promise, just he has no end product which is really frustrating.
On no.2, I've been saying that all season. Any team that comes to SJP is given the freedom of the pitch to do what they want. The Newcastle players just let them pass it around and gradually get to the edge of the penalty area before a real challenge is put in. It has cost us quite a few goals this season.

Hull and Newcastle could well go.
Not sure about Boro, but it's safe to say, Middlesbrough, Hull and Newcastle have all been performing terribly recently, and would struggle in the Championship for sure.
