I guess you are right, the 3 cushion is probably too hard for most people to get interest in it... Making it easier would surely help its popularity.

However 1 cushion would be too easy in my opinion, so the game wouldn't be challenging enough to be very interesting. 2 cushions might be a wise decision.

But I'm sure organizing regular tournaments will help even more in making this game popular.

Can't resist putting in a shout for common (pocket) billiards instead. I think it would be an easier general concept for people to move to from snooker.

I would have agreed with you before spinner but personally carom has quite grown on me. Thats not to say that common billiards wouldnt be popular, probably the contrary. All depends whether it would co-exist with carom or replace it.

I agree with Blutch, two cushions would be a good middle ground. Id love to keep the three but it is definitely putting off alot of people due to its difficulty.

i would like it to stay at 3 personally, if it the rules were changed to 1 or 2 then wouldn't we have more stat resets, the game isn't hard by any means, it's difficulty is perfect at 3.

exactly moons, i am not saying this becuse i have the highest rank but 3 is not hard its just people dont take interest

yep, i'm not saying it because I share the highest ever run. I've had quite a few runs of 4 and 5 so it can't be that hard to play once you've got used to it.

lol i dont dispute that the difficulty is perhaps correct for better players, but for some i think it is just to hard, which is why you can never get a game without inviting a friend. " cushions seems like the only way to get other players interested

i have had 4 or 5 on a number of ocassions so its not that hard plus i had no clue but it came to me after a few games

just because people find a game too hard does it mean you don't play it! If anyone out there afriad to play carom due to it's difficulty then i challenge you to challenge yourself and start playing it once in a while, or at least practice if you have 10 mins spare. i'm sure you'll get to grips with it in no time. as i said above i didnt get it at 1st untill afew games so practice a little bit nd play more often and you will get use to it

it cant be that hard plus i have 4+ and runs below that are easier it is not hard

I havn't played carom in a while as there's rarely any opponents, but i didn't find it overly difficult when i did play... it took a bit of getting used too but once i got through the learning experience it was quite fun.

Personally, i think it would become too easy if the rules were changed and it would no longer be a challenge.

exactly new rules no challenge

plus it was hard at first for all of us that play carom but we have got used to it for example these people started playing carom when the tournaments were implemented snottle and sketchup. These started not long ago and they have high ranks so its not hard to get used to it

I agree with cuculain, i would like to see the 3 cushions kept but can see why it might be too hard for some.
