Everybody who has not brought premium so far, what would you like to see for you want to buy it, I no its not so popular but what would it have to include for you to have it!
I was thinking a tournament has to have atleast 64 entries maybe 32 only one a month and the winner gets a cash prize, I am willing donate £5 every month to the tourny so if it did happen somebody will atleast walk away with £5, I only like this idea becuase if you spend something you get the chance to earn something back where if you spend nuthing you dont
I got this idea from the other week i was in a casino playing only wanted spend £40 but my mate took about £300 and I lost my £40 and he lost about £200 then with his final £100 he won £4,700, becuase we both play the same numbers and stuff if I spent the money I could of had the chance to win it aswell but I didnt want to so I just didnt bother, so really if you think you could win all 6 tournys of my £5 alone thats £30 so you gain £20 profit, but it will have to be aproved by nick becuase using money on the site n all
But let us all no what you want so nick will atleast be able to have a chance of adding new stuff to a Premium account so everybody get get intrested in it!

You have to be 18 on any site to be able to gamble so the site would have to have age restrictions on certain aspects of the site, thus taking away the whole aspect off a family site.
It has been mentioned before and got let's say a predominately negative response, not from just the members but admin and nick also.

I would like to see some tournaments with prices and would definately be willing to have tourneys or even leagues with buy-ins.
The only problem is the security. How can it be quaranteed that u get the money afterwards. Easiest way might be handing the money to Nick or somebody we can really trust before the tourney and he would then hand out the prices.
But unfortunately I don't believe that Nick would be willing to do that and wouldnt be surprised if he wouldnt allow it at all.
edit: oh and as mentioned above theres age restrictions

I'm sorry i think that is taking Funkysnooker a bit to far for our liking this game from poolsharks right through to this present day as been free. this is just ruining the game as a whole to bring gambling to it!
I paid £10 to become a 'premium member' to help nick develop the site and get it as good as it can be!
Maybe being a premium user we could get extra add-ons like premium tournaments, leagues and so on!

Gambling/prizes is a path funkysnooker should and probably will never follow, as its goal is gather people that just like to play against each other, and not to generate a whole generation of "professional" players.
Also, I disagree with premium members asking for more features reserved to them. The premium membership currently only implies the ad-free game, and having paid this membership shouldn't lead them to feel so special that they deserve some new special feature. Actually I think that no important feature should be reserved to premium members, to avoid the site to give the impression it has 2 "kinds" of members.
No offense is to be understood in my message, but I just want to make my point of view clear.

After reading your post blutch, I re-read _drunk_mates last para and you are right premium and non-premium should be equal in every respect!

Yep, everyone is treated exactly the same, have the same say. Simple as that. Premium mebers won't get treated differently, just that they have no ads.

If you pay £10 for a premium account which included small cash prizes for tournaments, i wouldn't have classed that as gambling.
I mean what are you gambling? The £10? Not if premium gives you other reasons to buy it such as the removal of adds.
I say bring on tournaments with small prizes, depending on how many sign up to premium that is. I'm not going to go into money issues regarding what the site makes but it's easy enough to obtain the same results without gambling.

There are some scary ideas floating around this site, the idea that gambling (which this would be) could come into what was once (and hopefully will continue to be) a family friendly website is quite frankly disturbing. Atm, the premium account has had bad hype and all you have got is a bigger table, no adds and that tag ^^ imaine the negativity from me and i'm sure others if you get other stuff?? Especially this.
We need to be careful as a whole site through where this game is going, I don't want it to not be around in 3 years time, turning it into a gambling site, when there are so many poker/bingo sites around would not even make good business sense.

How about then a tournament winning premium membership?

But the whole point of it is, basically, to support the site so that improvements can be made for the benefit of all which giving free premium membership doesn't and would make the perception of a two tier system by some even more pronounced.

Haha, that would also create so many problems/questions
1) Which game type?
2) Is it fair to have a tournament which realistically only 5% of the site has a shot of winning?
3) What time would the tournament be held?
4) How often?
5) How would it be achievable?
6) For how long?

I dont know if cash prizes or any prizes of any sort will ever be an option for funkysnooker. As mentioned before, it goes against the ethos of a "family site".
The premium membership is there to ensure the future of funkysnooker, it isnt there to create a two tiered system. And I would be very surprised if tournaments or leagues were introduced just for premium members.
