I am open to the possibility of changing random shot to an automatic foul.

The only real clause is it must be the same for every game (on this site and pool).

First we can discuss it here, and if it's close we could do a vote on a new thread (ha!).

I've always wanted the shot to go to the other player if someone randoms so it sounds good to me!

Often there are times when you can't help a random shot, especially since many of the users on here are young people who are made to do chores by their parents, sometimes unexpectedly during games.

Instead of a foul or random shot, I'd prefer the shot to go to the other person straight away.

But what if you lay them in a snooker and shot times out? Would you have the option for them to take again because thats the only way it can be.

Surely you don't mean that as you are handing everybody a 'Get out of snookers free' card.

I much prefer the automatic foul to a random shot because of the fluke potential inherent in the random system. Of course the foul value given (in snooker) must reflect the value of the ball on.

damees right, its ok being an automatic foul but if they are snookered u must be able to have the option to put them back in with 3 time outs and they lose the frame

What if it was just the pink and black left on table? Would be a 6 point foul.

Of course not. Since they haven't stuck completely to the rules of the game (by not taking their shot in the allowed time), there has to be something done. Like Damee said, having the opportunity to force them to take the shot again would be the best way.

I'm happy with random shot to be honest, but seems so we are on the way up in the snooker world might aswell give it a change!

I think we should just give a foul and pass it onto the next player but in the case of being snookerd then as it being a foul anyways you can just make them play again and again untill they hit the magic 3 then its game over.

The problem with random shot was if you did snooker somebody and they ran out of time the ball would obviously be hit and left in a different position so yeah go for the foul.

If it is an automatic foul then the replay option would be automatic, Under the random system if you fluke a pot then you carry on as if you had played the shot.

I think that the foul element has to be there otherwise it somewhat negates the time limit when you are snookered or in a difficult position (i.e. gives you 3 times as long to take your shot),

the best combination of the rules are this:

1. remove the random shot
2. replace it with an automatic switch to the other player who also gets a 4 point foul.
3. give an option to let them shot again
4. if the timer runs out 3 times then they lose (as now)
5. allow the balls to be replaced if a shot out of a snooker is fouled
6. unlimited attempts to get out of a snooker

Ah just remembered something. In the premier league snooker on tele, once the time limit has run out, a foul is given and position awarded to the opponent, and the option to put them back in.

So if this was to be added it would be making it more realistic...

Yeah I've always been against the random shot time, as since the premier league on sky, there has been a shot clock and if it reaches zero a fouls is given, and you can either take from the position or put them back in. (I think) Am pretty definite that the ref doesn't pick the white up and launch it at the other balls, which is basically what the current system does lol.
