Anyone seen the FA's latest money making scheme? Playoff from 4th place down to 7th for final Champions League spot. 38 games not enough? :\

Well...whats to say some seasons 4th and 7th are seperated by 15-20 points, and the 7th place team wins the playoff....
Not overly keen on the idea that a team finishing 7th could represent England in the champions League. I think it should be the best 4...(the top 4 teams)

i agree with your point Joe.
I just think it would make things interesting at the end of the season.
Ideally the top 3 teams will be the big guns for England.
Also it will attract more players to the premiership knowing theres a chance more teams could get to the Champions League

i think this change would lower the standard of the premier league as bigger teams such as arsenal and liverpool who are regularly in the 4th spot battle would rest big players for competitions such as the champions league safe in the knowledge that they only have to come 7th to have a chance to get a chance at the champions league next year.
for example, liverpool this year say they hadnt got knocked out of the champions league they would be resting gerrard a lot more in the league if they only had to get to 7th place so they have a better chance in the champions league this would maybe result in a more positive effect for younger players such as dani pacheco (great player) however would lower the standard of play without gerrard.
what do you guys think of this point?

I want the team that finishes fourth to represent England in the Champions League, whether that be Birmingham, Liverpool, Spurs, Wolves etc:
Thats how it should be. It's not the big '4' now, it's the big 7, possibly 8 or 9 that can compete for the European places of the Champions League and the Europa League.

What happens if the team who finish in the playoffs won the champions league, they automatically qualify so the playoffs would cancel themselves out

That couldn't be further from the truth. The top 4 will all vote against it.
However, a 14:6 majority is all it would take, and of course 5-7th aint gonna turn down a chance they wouldn't otherwise have.
Money grabbing is what this is, why have a playoff for 4th spot? If your gonna do play offs, you do it for the title not one spot.
Just making a mockery of the champions league and even the prem.
Have the FA not got enough money? :\

If this play off did happen we all know what the outcome would be..Everton would finish 4th, Liverpool would finish 5th,6th or 7th but win the play off! which would be just Evertons luck lol
