Not long to go now to the Ashes, starts on the 8th July.
08 July – 12 July 2009 England vs. Australia 1st npower Test Cardiff
16 July – 20 July 2009 England vs. Australia 2nd npower Test Lord’s
30 July – 03 Aug 2009 England vs. Australia 3rd npower Test Edgbaston
07 Aug – 11 Aug 2009 England vs. Australia 4th npower Test Headingley Carnegie
20 Aug – 24 Aug 2009 England vs. Australia 5th npower Test The Brit Oval
I think it'll end up being 2-1 over the 5 tests. can't decide who'll win it but i think England will win the 1st Test and 2 of the other Tests will end in draws.
Thoughts on the series people....

I'm thinking 3-2 to Austrailia
Pietersen will knock them all over the park and if Freddie is back he won't be such a star. Not sure on the bowlers but the advert on Sky Sports with the past players who you used to play the Ashes is about right.

I would literally watch all 25 days every single ball if I could. Well looking forward to it, I remember being absorbed in 05, got that series on DVD.
watched lanks V Derbyshire the other day and Freddie smashed 93 off 40 balls and was so close to a hundred - stopped by an amazing catch. Thats the form we want to see.
My 11 in Batting order:
Strauss
Cook
Bopara
Pietersen
Collingwood
Prior
Fred
Broad
Swann
Onions
Anderson
That bowling attack is a bit similar, but its the best we have, in some cases, maybe take Onions out and give Rashid a go. But then, when have England ever given a kid a go in tests?

Hmm, agree with that Mike, but maybe rashid or monty playing instead of onions if we need two spinners for a match and maybe Sidebottom in the bowling attack to add something different.

yeahhh thats what I said, onions out for Rashid if on a turning wicket - which Old trafford would have been but they decided not to give them a test...
Sidebottom for me is ineffective when the ball doesn't swing so would bea gamble.
Still think Freddie will play a big part with the ball, but his batting is a bit suspect these days, which does make our batting a bit weak if prior fails. The pressure is on the top 4 to get us off to a good start.
Maybe we could just go in with 4 bowlers - flintoff, broad, anderson and swann, then stick Shah in there.
Sure wish we has Trescothick as we did in 05. He was a dangerous opener.

Sorry, but I can't see Enlgnad winning at Lord's - they never do against the Aussies.
However, there is every chance that they will win the series, as this is supposedly the weakest Ashes team put forward by the Aussies since before the Warne / Mcgrath era ... we'll see!

The Aussie bowling isn't bad either. No Mcgrath, Warne but Mitchell Johnson and Brett Lee are not to be underestimated by any means.
Think the stand out players will be Bopara and Anderson for England.

I think England will win it 2-1 but there needs to be a tight team drop onions he is average and we can't have just average we need the best that our country is producing.
A win a Lords and Oval droping 1 at edgebaston and a draw at Cardiff and Headingly will see the victory I think!
