Yes it can, you know me Magic!

Actually, it depends what you mean. Yes, it cant be argued that will provide an advantage to one player over another, however it can be argued that such an advantage shouldn't exist.

It would be all very well for the people who like to play at granny pace (no offense granny's!), but the reason people play 10 second games is because they dont want to have to wait for over half a minute between each shot.

There still hasn't been an answer to the question - why not just play a longer game?

(Note - it doesn't matter if there is only a 10 sec game availiable, just create a new one to suit)

the reason for not playing a 40s game as opposed to a 10s game with a 40s 'time bank' is that a 40s game would mean 40s EVERY SHOT, whilst in the proposed new game, there would only be one shot where this length of time would be used if the phone rang, etc. Also, how can you say an advantage 'shouldnt' exist - an advantage is an advantage and should be installed, surely?!

How can it ever be argued that its fair to have something in place that gives one player an advantage over another?

And some will try to argue that because both people have the option, it isnt unfair, but thats just twaddle (to put it mildly!)

Well, i expected you to post that, but then you're expecting this too..

Top_spin and I just played a couple of frames. In the 10 second game i always play, i won decisively.

We then played a 20 second game, which top_spin won decisively.

I firmly believe that if Top_spin had the option of calling extra time during the first game, he would have won. However if I also had that extra time, obviously, it would have made no difference to me.

This is a perfect example of why doing this would create an unfair advantage for players who prefer quick games.

The only reason people play quick games is usually because they can pot but they can't position the white and therefore try to just pot their way to victory. 10 second games would be banned if it were up to me!!! lmao

LOL thats completely the opposite of my reason for playing 10 sec games!

Surely if someone cant position then its impossible to "pot thier way to victory"

you are the minority though spinner. im not saying to ban 10s games, as you know, but it would be good to have the option to do this if they wanted...

tbh i think it is a pointless option just play the games with the time limit you like best no point having a 10 second games with extra seconds when you can have that in the first place!

Thing is, i just cant see the point in playing a 10 second game, if you think it might not give you enough time.

The fun of the quick games is the "pressure" the tie limit gives. If you know you can cancel that at any time, the fun is gone.

Remember, you can still play 20 second games at only 5 seconds a shot. But you can feel safe in the knowledge that you have the extra time if you need it.

However, at the end of the day, i'm all for options, so if Nick deems it viable then fine. Just dont expect the box to be ticked if you play me..

ive played 10 second games before and its so annoying you just get settled to play your shot and the bleeper starts going again. As for trying to pot your way to victory, i mean people who play these 10 second games can't position so just wack the balls as hard as possible. Which is probably why you play them seeing as you came over from the pool! most players like to have abit of time so they can actually decide what spin to play and what ball to pot.

another option would be to turn the sound off therefore not being put under pressure to play your shot so quickly because of the beep.

Please feel free to challenge me anytime.

What on earth do people do with all this time! 10 seconds is more than enough to line up your shot, pick english and play.

As anyone who has played me can tell you, i prefer strategical safety based games. Which is precisely why i prefer the quicker time limit.

However, we're going way off topic here!

Point is. If 10 seconds isnt enough for you to play the way you like, just dont play 10 second games!
