Went all the way up to manchester, 4 hour journey in all on the trains. Saved up and been waiting for ages for my moment of glory, to have a shot at a deal of 10 grand.

Out after 13 hands.

Started off as dealer, had 5,7 Folded then it was like 9,3...4,10...3,6...and after my 12th hand i got dealt Q,10 but faced a raise and a reraise so folded.

Next hand i look at aces in the hole...i think, im not going small im going to overraise this, i bet 625 with blinds at 50/100 there was 400 in the pot so i just wanted to take it down...some1 waits for ages...CALLS.

Im thinking AK? 10's? J's?

Flop Hits 4,6,8 with 2 spades... im holding the Ace of spades so elimate AK of Spades for flush, im first to act, 1700 in the pot...i push the rest of my chips just under 2000...

Takes him around 30 seconds to a minute to call...im thinking woo, he waited ages, he has a pocket pair for sure, Probally 10s or Jacks...

He flips to my disbeliefe top set, called my raise with 8's!...

Turn was a 2, and river a 5 with no spades, i lose the hand and my tournament is over.

16 Minutes to lose to a 6% hand against me

Free bar and went to old trafford, saw man utd lose so i guess it was allright in the end.

10 grand tho

To me thats a massive sum of money, i would of ran the streets naked for £1000

Was broken to pieces and have only felt pain like that before on 1 occasion.

Thats poker, what can you do.

Met 3 celebs tho lol Wooo

Ooooo man, that's unlucky.. What was he thinking there for 1 minute with trip 8's top set?? I'd shove all my belongings in that pot..

From what you're telling us in 3rd paragraph you played well, keep playing and I'm sure you'll have a good profit in the long run. In 1 tourney even a gr8 player can finish v. early because there's luck, but in 200 tourneys a good player will finish in a couple of top positions no matter what. Experience talking

I No Right! takes him 1 minute to call so when he does, im thinking im waaaay ahead! and he flips top set :S

As if i was raising with 7,5 preflop? lolol

Yeah ive made profit overall, a decent profit but never been for this high stakes, think the last highest first prize was...£600 lol

Good to see another poker player's on the thread

Yeah, I've finished 38th before in a very big tourney with 36 paid, KK vs. 22 all-in pre-flop, deuce comes on the turn, I'll never forget it.

Lots of similar stories of other poker players as well, so don't worry too much about it... Things like that happen in poker all the time, tilting is a player's worst enemy, as I said keep playing your game and another big chance will eventually come for you..

Umm, well in certin times of the year for example November time the WSOP (Biggest event) is held and whoever sponsors it for example Pokerstars, then that site will offer out freerolls to win a place in the WSOP.

There are about 300+ people in everyone and its first come first serve. also there are other sites that offer freerolls to win seats...

but for actually winning cash, there is nothing like that Lee sadly lol.

Sites dont offer freerolls were you can win money, you can only win entry into the next tourny.

Basically a freeroll is the Champions league qualifying round...then u have the group stage, last 16, QF, Semis and final...then your in. Can take a month for the process.

If Kelv entered a tounry for free, im gonna guess the tounry he entered was something like that, or a loyalty point tournament (Loyalty points are recieved AS you play for cash)

But i could be wrong...

There are hundreds of poker sites you can download software from to play online and some of the do have free to enter tournaments (freerolls)

Where you can win money.

PKR is awful, its more like a computer game than poker and it has no value to it.

Pokerstars is not nice software but run special offers at different times of the year, like Derry said, but at the moment every night at 930pm and it finishes tommorow there is a £2000 freeroll where the prize is money and is completly free to enter and exlusive to UK and Ire. However there is 10,000 people in this most nights but the winner gets bout £300.

Full tilt poker has 4 cash freerolls a day for UK residents.

Paddy power poker has 2, one at 7am and one at 12pm

Masion Poker run one at 7.30pm each nigh for $100 and that is limited to 500 people which gives you more chance

I think thats the times, Freerolls for me are only there to let of some steam and play loose but they did start my bankroll when i won one on Full tilt and got £270.

I use to play every minute of every day on full tilit poker and my basic assessment is, avoid it by all means.

Long story short, fixed.

Pokerstars abit slow same as PKR < Ridiculosly slow and no need for the animations, go to a casino ffs.

888.com is rather good i feel <

And yeah my bad, i forgot to mention the UK resident tournies!

But ovbiously there are at least 1800 people and usually around 8000 which can seriously last 6-7 hours.

.

if you ask me, every single internet poker site is fixed. the amount of times that big hands come up against each other.

its obvious thats the way it is though because sites need to keep people interested, if players kept getting bad hands and never hitting big hands they would never play.

(a non poker yet related example, i used to play "deal or no deal" on paddy power for money. pay a fee and the top prize was 10 times the buy in. when you play for money you hardly ever removed the top values. the min you switch over to real money the first couple of boxes are always the high value ones)

for that reason i generally avoid playing for money online and only enter freeroll tournaments on paddy power and full tilt. i have placed a number of times in live tournaments and i prefer the whole buzz of being able to get reads from your opponent and talk etc.
