Might be wrong but would this not make the exceptionally good carom players i.e Derry, Damee, Destiny, Fuzzy, Lee Masterful and a few others almost impossible to beat..
If they win the lag then they more than likely will get a run of 5, or if opponent wins the lag the better get a good run of atleast 4 i guess..

Also bear in mind that it doesnt show the path of the object ball so it would still require practice to avoid double kissing, or colliding with the object ball again before the 2nd ball. Unless you have a 2nd line showing where the 1st ball goes, but even then you wouldnt know about hitting it as balls might not be in the same place at the same time .

The only thing i dont like is...
Ages ago, when i was a wee lad, i had a playstation game which was snooker.
On this game you had easy/hard mode, easy had a line which showed the path of A, the cue ball & B, the object ball. This made a shot unmissable bcoz you could line in straight in the pocket.
I dont want this to become like that, because then all the hard work the players have done to achieve what they have currently, it might just...come undone?
I do like the idea, but it does make it abit, dare i say...too easy? lol.
Hmm, tricky!

Wouldn't it be much simpler, and more accurate (cue power, spin) to have the option to retake a shot in practice? And this could even be done for all game types.
The way the game handles cue power is very incompatible with the "shot preview", as the game only knows the cue power when the shot has been played. Also, it might get very confusing for newcomers to have two different cue power systems for practice and for real play.

Woah weird seeing cue power so many times
Id prefer a retake shot button but, it wouldnt help as much...as with the line...it shows you the line...so it narrows what is actually very complicated pysics and maths down to simplicity.
So without the line, the player might not no where the line of the cue ball, if that makes ANY sense what so ever!

This idea wouldn't just go on the carom table though as it could go on all the tables, so that doesn't exactly hold water

This is not a good idea IMO as only a small number of people play carom and any idea should benefit the site as a whole and not just the 20 people that play carom..

i agree with blutch. i would personally love to see a re-take shot button on the practise table.
i like messing around with trick shots and daft snookers on the practice table and would be great to be able to click to have the shot replaced.
or else have the option to place the balls on the table by "hand"

Personally, I'm not keen on the idea of having aimer lines at all but would welcome a replay shot option on the practice table. Apart from the technical issues of producing the lines (would require extra rendering that may detract from the original 'Funky philosophy' of being able to run on older, less powerful, machines for example), the way it is now is more akin to real life, where skill is acquired through personal practice, judgment and experience rather than having it 'spoon fed' through artificial means.

Being able to screw back the length of the table when your tight on the cushion or tight against another ball or the fact long pots are so easy is hardly akin to real life play tho is it???

as much as i like the idea, buddy is talking a bit of sense.

Sorry, but I can't quite see your point. Are you saying that those are good things?

It seems that while not attempting to actually contribute anything to the thread, instead picking less important points of the posts to comment on, what he has implied is that because those are able, the game isn't akin to real life anyway, making the aimer viable.

The other points are good ones particularly with replay shot. How difficult would implementing the replay shot be?

You said the way funky is now is more akin to real life when that simply is not true, There is some shots on here that are simply impossible in real life but they are simple to execute on here..
So my point iamtheworst is that a replay shot is a good idea because, and because this site is nothing like real life then it should be implemented... Simple

Agreed that Funky is not at all like real life in certain areas but the way it is is more like real life than what is being proposed. Your argument appears to fall into the category of two wrongs make a right.

Thats what i was trying to say!
Good job!
Would be crule for members (like me) who have been here years! and played many games to get to the experiance level each player is at...for it then to be, as Buddy said "Spoon fed" via these lines!
Replay shot button < fair do's to that but the lines...harsh beans!
