On this site, potting is more important by a mile. For the simple the fact you can pot from anywhere on the table basically.

Personally i love the positional side to the game on here, i'd say that is my strong point on here. Love doing the little half ball delicate cannons to leave you on a red.

i'll third that.. delicate positional play is an absolute pleasure to watch at times....unless you're on the recieving end of it

Most of the issues have been said already.
Potting from basically from all angles? Hmm i always struggle with black to the middle pockets......
I try as many others first to get both corners for black available. That needs some positional play but dont forget to pot then
Somehow i feel afterwards with every shot the need to split or open up packs. That cost me many frames if you forget potting then.....but its my only way to get the desired maximum (or high break)
Potting in corner pockets i can do with full and slight cuer power while for the middle bags i always use less cue power...see how realistic this game is .
Watching (or even better: playing) good postional play is the best there is in this game.....

Safety play however is just about non-existent on here. Shame really, enjoy that too. Me and arpeggi had a safety game one and it was quality!

Also, black to middle personally isn't that hard, but i do love the middle bags.

I completely strive for position at all times. In doing this your game will improve 100%. If you can pot from anywhere on the table then you can afford to experiment with position and spin. What makes a great player i think is complete knowledge of a snooker table's geometry. ( sounds so fruity )

Too many players i have seen that just dont realise that you can stay on the black the whole time. Also alot of players just whack em'. Good position, good pace, and good potting, WILL lead you to the top of the rankings

Not alot of people know this but i was totally shocking at this game. One day i said, ill get better, went and practised for ages and ages, taking tough shots, and middle bags all day.

Now look.... im still shocking

I was the exact same!
Ask Dan he saw me when i was around the 670 mark, i think i dropped down to about 640-ish.
But after playing the best and practicing I'd like to think im a decent enough player, practice makes perfect.
i practiced for ages on arcade and made it to the top.
Now when i play a game i always try for black because im good at position, although my potting is probably my strongest attribute on here.
Usually if i play a bad positional shot I can get out of jail with a spectacular pot().
So a balance of both is what is needed really. In my opinion.

No one was good at this game when they started. Personally took me over 1000 orig games to record my first century! Anything is possible.

i think its quite funny to watch players with absolutely no positional thinking or forward thinking whatsoever yet see them make half cents.

it never works for me, if i blast a red in with the hope of the white making it out again to end up on any colour, 9-10 im snookered. 9-10 my opponent ends up nicely positioned on a colour.

or instead of playing a run through on the red for the next black they hit the red full ball and get a few cannons on reds and end up with nice enough position on the black anyway.
