You should try using "Search Forum" before making a new thread as both ideas have been discussed many times and got quite a lot of feedback.
These show lists of relevant threads:
http://www.funkysnooker.com/findTopic.do?forumid=2&searchString=touching+ball
http://www.funkysnooker.com/findTopic.do?forumid=2&searchString=nominate
The "nominate colour" rule is a good idea in principle with it being a genuine snooker rule, but in practice I can't see it fitting with the pace of on-line snooker.
Also, one of the best features of this game is its simplicity, and if you try to make it too much like the actual game you could easily run the risk of overcomplicating it.

If you want a more realistic take on things, move to another snooker site, there are plenty of them out there. I personally think the reason for 'funky'snooker being so popular recently is the lack in realism.

i dont think its for the lack in realism myself, i joined this game simply because i think its the best never even crossed my mind when i was joining about realism..

Well for me, it was for the lack of realism that I joined.

Because the lack of realism makes it easy for people who have no snooker skill whatsoever to make century breaks instead of missing every other shot.

More realism would be a good thing, as long as the fun wasn't taken away from it, simplicity is the key. Snooker is quite a complicated game, and not everybody on here is a hige fan of snooker, or understands the ins and outs of the game.
09:48 Thu 1 Jul 10 (BST) [Link] Dont think that has been worded accurately, or certainly not a valid reason if it was aimed at me.
Because nicko, im playing an online snooker game just to pass the time. If I wanted to do things such as chalk the cue to give me improved control of the cue ball, or to have to play topspin when hitting close to the cushion, I would go down to the nearest snooker hall which is around 3 miles away and actually play snooker for real. As mike said, simplicity is the key.

Reword it then if it makes you happy Jay.
But you say it's the simplicity which attracts you, which is exactly what my point was all about; the simplicity in comparison with the real game.
So it's the same reason as the one you agree with, yet you say mine isn't valid for some reason....yeah...smooth Jay...smooth.

yea i understand that about the effort part as in chalking and stuff.. but would you not rather the game be better and more realistic.. as in xbox or ps3 games you dont play them because they have crap graphics or terrible storylines its the complete opposite..
