As the player who goes first on a respotted black invariably wins, how about forcing the first shot to be played off the brown spot? I know this goes against the rules of snooker but it would make it a lot fairer!

I think the game should be called a draw if its level scoring, meaning nobody gets a win/loss or any sort of points.

I think 50/50 is fair enough...you win some you lose some.

How many times does this old chestnut have to be brought up. The bottom line is that the current method is in keeping with the rules of snooker and is about the fairest method available. Therefore it is extremely unlikely to change and you should just live with it - as cue said you win some you lose some.

Go against the official rules, create a lag, winner of the lag has the choice to play 1st or 2nd.

Takes a bit of skill to win then, rather than random chance.

Only problem with that is they will use the cheat lag more often which is not what we want

dest invented a lag on carom what lands on the top cushion all the time, its rarely used now though.

Basically I completely disagree with buddytobud and Jaaaames when they say its the fairest way. Because, it isnt.

Even if each player was awarded the break off 50% of the time, (which is ridiculos to imply as no1 will get 50%) the points won/lost wont be even in the slightest. It would be typical to get the break when I can lose 1.2 points and then I dont get the break when the opposing player can take 5-8 ranking points off me. That isnt fair, it isnt luck its just plain silly.

There cant be a lag created for the pure and simple fact that there will be some sort of lag shot created which will be borderline impossible to beat (Bcoz this site allows you to hit as many cushions and whatever cushions you like during a lag, which isnt the actual rules of snooker/pool)

So the fairest way is my previous post. So nobody loses/wins and the game is essentially a draw. No points are rewarded or deducted from either player. So there is no pot luck.

Also I'd like to point out...I played someone 4 times and we deliberately sent the game to a respot...the results were...

Me to break off - 0
Him to break off - 4

Can you really argue with that?

The process isnt fair, until the day comes where I see Ronnie cutting the black from yellow spot, then this is unacceptable
