how is it i spend all my time building up ranking points to lose them to a newbie that obviously isnt a newbie

just lost 5 ranking points to a 777 rank that is obviously not a newbie

how can this be fair to players that want to aim for something

since he has played over 3,000 games nearly in arcade

So someone has gained 100+ points while still in the Newbie status? Didn't this say something to you? Instead of blaming the game, blame your own common sense. Also, you lost less points than you would have if the person wasn't a newbie.

Yeh basically just dont be silly enough to play lower ranks, i find play someone at maximum 20 points under you, if your aiming for a high rank, then if you lose, you dont lose as many points as you would if you lose against a 700 for example.

Do my idea, if it says newbie next to their name just keep away, also to be honest, if they are a newbie at rank 777 it does not mean they are any good I would expect be a newbie at 777 and i'm not great =D

I don't mind playing anybody aslong as they are above 800 becuase as I am a higher rank I expect to win anyway so it doesnt bother me who it is as theres a reason they are that rank and I am mine.

do remember a newbie can be a ex player or reset his/her stats or learned the game as a guest and then came on and made it upto 800+ within 100 games, alot of players do now! also anyone can pretty much beat anyone!

The question of whether the ranking system is fair enough has been brough up several times.

Whilst the high-rank newbie can catch some people out, I know of several players, myself included, who reach 800.0, then rarely play ranked games any more.



It could fairly be said that some of us could well have a higher rank than 800.0 ... have you been caught out this way too....?

If you are that bothered by it, the simple solution is to just play friendlies

I was a pro in arcade after 40 games on this account! If you are worried about losing points to a newbie who may or may not be a "real" newbie.... then just dont play anybody that has newbie after there name.... kinda obvious!

I think the phase 'rubbish ranking system' or 'unfair ranking system' can be translated in most cases as 'Why can't I have more ranking points than my ability deserves?'

As ranking systems go, you would be hard pushed to find an alternative that would be fairer ... it takes into account respective levels of the player and even caters to some extent for the anomalies created by newbies (fake or otherwise).

Perhaps the OP can enlighten us as to what system should be employed instead.
