Think Buddytobud quite clearly pointed out the negatives...
As ranking systems go, you would be hard pushed to find an alternative that would be fairer ... it takes into account respective levels of the player and even caters to some extent for the anomalies created by newbies (fake or otherwise).
Perhaps the OP can enlighten us as to what system should be employed instead.you on the other hand went nowhere near answering his questions, just decided to throw your bottle out of the pram when people didnt agree with you....tissue?

Loving the irony .... but seriously .... if you have been on Pool for two years, you must be familiar with the ranking system which is identical except for the Ranking Scale which takes into account the relative difficulty/game length of the respective game types. You should also be aware of the risk of 'fake newbies' (especially if it is so 'obvious' that they are not newbies).
The ranking system appears to be as fair as is possible given the limitations of an online game and gives you the opportunity of assessing risk/reward prior to starting a match (which is my main objection to ranked tournament ... but that is another issue).

And if you really want to go all out.... download the Rank Calculator .... expertly created by the Mr. Buddytobud.
Can never have any excuse for losing rank to fake newbies then because you will know how much you will gain/lose before each game.

This comes up all the time.
The main thing that I find is that nobody really brings up the fact that a newbie can actually just be pretty good at the game right from the get go. I've only ever had the one account and on this very account I made many half centuries in my first 100 games of arcade.
I even beat one ste_efc as a newbie and he was untouchable at the time. I remember as there must have been a massive amount of pressure on him as he was ranked like 989 or something under the old ranking system only for this newbie to send him packing down the ranks Sorry pal!
