Theres a difference between players doing it, and it being a rule though

Random is by far the fairest way. You can't go giving people advantage of first shot just because they are a lower rank or because they didn't break.

Greatest you just come on here to cause an arguement and relate things to your stupid ideas and then cry like a baby and annoy others to the peak where people can get banned, grow up please.
In relevance to the thread, the rules are its random to who plays the black respot, in The Cruicible for example, im sure they will flip a coin to see who takes the shot or something like that, so its totally random, and not favoured to one player.

They do indeed toss a coin to decide who has first shot at a re-spotted black. Seen it happen a few times on TV.

Exactly, so why should the rules be changed to favour one player, totally barbaric if you ask me.

Firstly I agree that the only fair way to play a re-spotted black is a random chance 'flip of a coin' as in the official rules.
The point that doesn't seem to have been raised is that on a re-spotted black there is a very good chance that a reasonable player will pot it, this is where it differs from the real game.
No professional, or club player, would try to pot the black out of the 'D'.
I think with the law of averages for the few times a game is drawn it's ok as it is.
The only way to make it fairer could be that the player having to take the first shot at a re-spotted black has to play safe, as the pro's do in a real game but I image that would be difficult to write into the programme.

In arcade, if you play safe off a respotted black its basically impossible, because people with talents such as bud can pot a ball from anywhere on the table, so thats basically out of the window.
