there is no doubt about it; the way you approach potting (in orig anyway) will have to change, nothing drops once it has hit the near rail, you have to aim at the far jaw of the pocket

or you could just aim at the center of the pocket and not have a problem?

Perhaps, thing might be better if you actually play some games.

What I meant was when you get the like of Arpeggi saying what he thinks, if by the way you want to know how good he is just look at his stats... ACE player and the like of dgeneratio also an ACE player, both saying what they said just a few posts back, then i'm not on my own with what i've been saying.

Yeah, on Original (only play Original) I've been knocking in even with the new settings some ok'ish breaks, not in their league but good sized breaks - Nevertheless the overall feel of the table now is not as good as it was - in my opinion ! However, it seems in the opinion of some TOP players too! and we are talking here TOP TOP players.

If players like this are finding as they have said, then it can't be wonderfull for lesser mortals and for newcomers it has to be even more difficult.

As for playing more games buddytobud, if I play more games, it'll be divorce material lol, I play the odd game during work hours, just before tea, if I pop home in the afternoon a quickie and barely a night goes by when I don;t play - Damn -I'm sad....But i've always been like that with snooker, since I was about 14 ,oooo three years ago.

Too be honest mate, you're going on more than you should, just get used to the pockets, you haven't played a great deal of games, so just keep playing.

Yes, the original pocket has indeed changed (the yellow line represents the old cushion line):


The slight increased jaw to the left means you need be more accurate from acute angles. So this would affect mainly the black, as it's from an acute angle and as it's spotted maybe you learn a particular point on the screen to aim for, rather than fully lining up the shot.

I really don't want to have different style pockets for each type of table, but I also didn't want to make the game significantly more difficult to pocket. Hmmmm.

My biggest gripe is the shiny balls are dull looking. They were shinier before, now they just look dirty, with a white stripe on them.

Nick, im telling you from a professional (lmao) point of view, it is significantly harder now. So much so it can be very stressful. Its up to you though, and people will probably adjust, its just all my hard work now seems totally pointless....

Nick, from personal point of view, I don't think it is significantly harder. Of course, I can only comment on Original as that is the only one I really play and other tables might be different.

Nick, my experience with orig is that I'm finding it actually a bit easier to pot balls from acute angles recently (unless anything has changed in the last 24 hours). Maybe I just hit a bit form, but I'm having no trouble at all (since you widened the pockets again). No complaints from me.

no complaints from me either, only cush shots is more difficult but it should be more difficult so you have to work to get position and cannons, i find middles a lot easier now though.

Oh, yes, the centre pockets for original have been widened a bit - so overall the difficulty should be broadly comparable.

We know have to shift towards a 'real life' style of play now, which is good i think.

yes I'll say, that extra bit on the pocket from the diagram seems to make all the difference.

In my opinion, you're probably quite right - you can blame dgeneratio for teaching me what IMO meant, ever since he taught me that I've been very opinionated indeed but that only in my opinion.

Someone else might have a completely different opinion to the opinion I have, I suppose its all a matter of opinion really.
