nope i was merely suggesting correletion, not an order of cause to effect. and it was correlation based on the sample of posters so far, and was not being used as an estimator for application to the population space as a whole.

i can hit big breaks we had this chat earlier by messages between ourselves i dont think it is a case of incapability as much as people see the game different i like to win my games and i dont care how .. u like to win yours with big breaks but we all still get big breaks cos u dont win a lot without doing so really :/

yep and as i said in our messages, both are valid ways to try and win a game, but the game only recognises the "just win the game" method with the ranking/title system as it is.
The only way the people who play the other way get anything is on the forums, if you look at the "top 5 arcaders" thread, the names being put forward arent the ones with the highest win %, they are the ones who could hit the best breaks.
My suggestion is just a way to balance this out.

i dont think the ranking system should change but maybe another ranking system also :/

u no like say professional level 1 or something along those lines and u have to work your way up with a certain number of high breaks to and tournies :/ ?

agree that the ranking system is fine as it is. i have no problems with it at all as i dont play ranked except carom/killer lol.

"nuts" made an interesting point about titles being a mix of rank and achievements. maybe rank working the same but once you break 800 your title changes to professional if and only if you have hit a century in that game type for example. that encourages people to play to win, but also to try to hit big breaks.

yeah u are right i mean i suppose only nick and the admin team knows what they have instore for us .. i still think it is wrong that tournies are ranked i preferred when they wasnt cos people just enter knowing if they play 10 matches and there rank goes down the one they win as a newbie or a low rank they are going to get a lot of ranking points and end up better off

agreed matty, but before there was no real incentive to win tournaments so i guess they had to do something to increase entrants. Maybe if people could get higher ratings like "professional 3" by gaining rank, hitting breaks and winning tournaments then the need for ranked tournaments would be reduced!!!

i think if they were to change the professional and virt statuses it would haveto be with numbers really .. i think it is the only way like a game where u get experience i.e world of warcraft u are going to be doing the same thing on here

yeah but i think that would be a really good idea. reward consistency and breaking ability together. any way you could cap this and ill make a new thread with that new better idea? or is it not worth it?
