A guy picked a book off the highest shelf in a library. On the spine, he read "How to Jog". He ran out of the room and opened the book but found it had absolutely nothing to do with jogging. Explain...

A man lives on the 18th floor of his complex. He takes the elevator all the way to the top on days that are rainy. He goes to the 12th floor and walks up if he's alone on the elevator. Why is that?

The book was a volume of an encyclopaedia (or dictionary)

He is very short and can't reach higher than the 12th floor button unless he is with someone or he has his umberella

you are locked in a dark room. there is a candle, a gas lamp and a gas fire, however you only have one match that will only burn long enough to light one. (you can then light others using the lit one). Which should you light first?
Edit as I missed a section out:
The candle burns weakly for 10 minutes
The lamp burns strongly for 5 minutes
The fire burns strongly for 30 minutes however is fixed to the wall whereas the others are portable.
Should make more sense now.

Fred was trying to sell his safe to Bill, a prospective buyer.
"I see it is one of those new fangled digital ones with a 10 digit combination. How did you decide on the combination?", asked Bill.
"It's a long story," replied Fred, "I multiplied my age by my grandmothers and then added, my house number, the three digits from my car registration, how many tunes I had downloaded for my iPod and the number of games I'd played on FunkySnooker. I was running out of ideas so I tripled the result but still didn't have enough digits. After a little thought I squared the number and just at that point a No. 81 bus went past so I thought 'what the hell' and added that in too. About a week ago, I changed the number by writing down the combination, cutting out each of the digits and placing them in a bag from which I drew out each of the digits at random. I then burnt the pieces of paper."
"Wow," said Bill, "that was complicated. I think I'll take it after I have a look inside. What's the combination?"
Bill goes to the safe and Fred starts ... "6... 3...1... 7... 6... 4... 9... 1... 3... "
Before Fred had time to give the last digit, Bill had punched it in and opened the safe. "That was a lucky guess!" exclaimed Fred. "No it wasn't" replied Bill, smiling.
How did Bill know the combination and what was the last digit?
Edit: small typo

No, they had never met before and were not related in any way (also you didn't give the last digit in your answer)

If you mean a Public Bath, he went in but didn't swim and when he came out it was raining.

perhaps when the slit is opened during the day, one of the prisoners is standing in front of another (obscuring them from the guard).
all 3 are still there and all 3 get fed

Actually, you were closer the first time and I'll give it to you because you have all the essential elements.
The full answer is that the reason I didn't raise the alarm was that I, as one of the prisoners, had no reason to raise the alarm. Also when the light goes on and I look around I would only see two people (the other two prisoners). Nobody escaped and three were fed.
Edit: corrected typos

You have a fox, a chicken and some grain at one side of a river, and a boat to cross the river to get to the otherside. However you can only take one at a time across the river in the boat.
However, if you leave the chicken with the fox, the chicken will be eaten. If you leave the chicken with the grain, the grain will be eaten.
How do you get everything to the other side without anything being eaten?

Do you have to have an animal on the boat to cross?
