options/game/shot cursor - default/outline/use sistem cursor/ghost ball
None of the above options dont have a smaller than the cue ball version of the shot cursor. .
Is it possible to have one?
Thank you.

I can't see how a smaller cursor would be useful, could you explain?

I think its just a visual thing Bud. I myself have this problem and feel as if a smaller cursor would be helpful. I think that after playing arcade for so long where the cursor is roughly the same size as the cue ball, it gives you the idea that, that is what is 'correct'. Going to a table where the cursor is bigger than the balls seems, wrong.

I must admit, I've never had that effect because I usually stick to original and don't switch between the different types that often, but I've never had the feeling that the cue ball is anything other than the same size as the cue ball (using the ghost ball - other cursors may be different). Perhaps it is something to do with screen resolutions?

Yeah I think it is down to screen resolutions. Is it the monitor itself that decides that or..? The graphics on my house computer seem to be much better than on my own computer aswell.

It is selected in the control panel, but is usually set to the highest resolution that the monitor will support (there is rarely a need to set it to anything else other than performance or testing purposes)

So basically, better monitor = better screen resolution?

Basically yes, though there are other factors with regard to quality that can determine whether one monitor is better than another.
But we digress

is this the circle bit of the cursor you are talking about or the cross-hair bit? I have an issue on my computer with the cross-hair being much bigger than the circle part of the cursor...

Ahh, hadn't thought of that, Adam. I do believe that some do experience that (well duh obviously, you have just said so *slaps forehead*) but I haven't so presumably that would be purely down to resolution. I think the cross hair is the default Java System Cursor of which I don't think Nick has control but somebody more familiar with the VM might be able to give a definitive answer on that. The cue ball is drawn independently by the software which is why there is always a lag between the two, I believe.

I agree - the graphics on the house computer(with higher resolution) are better than on my laptop, but still in either of the cases,a smaller shade or "ghost" of the shot cursor would help me a lot to improve my acuracy on the shot and to "see" better the pot when aligned with the cue ball and the pocket .I think I am not the only one feeling the same.
Thank you and please escuse my poor english.

The cross hair is larger than the cue ball (overlaps), so i can't line up the shot correctly, hence why i don't play original

and yes,the cross-hair bit can disappear as well if possible . An extra option with a smaller circle part of the cursor and without the cross-hair bit would be more than welcome .
19:34 Sat 26 Mar 11 (GMT) [Link] Really? I take it you've tried ghost ball? It's the same size as the target ball for me.

This is what my cursor looks like on original with the ghost ball (I've enlarged the image for clarity)
My resolution is 1280 x 1024
Edit: actually that is the old style balls (was one I had to hand) but I assure you that it is the same with the new ones too

If mine was like that it would be ok but the cross-hair is massive, how can i put a screen shot of mine up here like that so you can see what i mean.
