not really i didn't see Eric Bischoff telling superstars to defend each night. I think rule is that the championship must be defended every 28 days or title is relinquished.

I haven't watched wrestling since Triple H and Orton rivalry in 2009 (only youtube since then) so may have changed but when i watched it regularly titles was defended at PPV and some RAW.
