SPAMMING POLICY
Do not repeat the same post data more than 1 time.
Few questions:
If i was to post this say 3 times in like 10 seconds that is the same data, So that is obviously spamming.
But if i was to post it three times in 10 seconds but different data eg like members do in the snooker event forum, or clan league thread is that classed as spamming?
Just curious that is all, Does not get on my wick, Just find it a bit daft that people will post maybe on the same thread 5 different posts in like 10 seconds, when they can easily edit it and make it all into one!

It's a bit of a difficult one to be honest. I find it annoying if I see 5 posts in a row by the user saying different things in the space of a few min. Obviously sometimes it posts twice when only clicked once but that's no big deal.
On the forums it just tends to be classed as more annoying, unless they constantly do it, then they will be warned. However, this thread and this one - http://www.funkysnooker.com/thread/8228/edit-posts have given me an idea...
When posting, maybe give a little warning saying you have posted on this thread in the last, lets say, 1 hour, and recommends to edit the post instead?

Spamming, in my opinion, not only refers to how many posts you make in quick succession, but also the quality of the posts.
If you make 3 posts in 10 seconds, but all 3 posts are high quality and on-topic, then that wouldn't in my eyes be "Spam".
However if you made 3 posts in 10 seconds, and your posts were low quality... I.E, only a few words long, and/or off-topic, then I'd say you were spamming.
Spamming is only really a problem though (to me), if it is constant. 3 low quality/off-topic posts in 10 seconds would be spam, but if I were a moderator for example, I would only ever do something about it, if you were, say, making 100's of posts within a short period of time.
It all comes down to whoever is reading the post ultimately, however I think most spam is quite obvious, and easy to deal with.

Okay then:
My first post is:
Player A v Player B
Player C V player D
my second post is:
Player A beat player B 2-0
My 3rd post is:
Player 2 v 0 Player B
Player C V player D
In the space of an hour or 2.
Would that be classed as spamming because that happens a lot and i have always seen it that as spamming but unintentional spamming they just need reminded of the rules. Or just start editing there posts

i have to post my clans fixtures onto every page so ppl can see the up to date results and games still to be played . we usaully get to set of fixtures at a time. i like keep them in separate posts so its easier to update and ppl wont be getting mixed up . i that classed as spamming ???

I would love to reuse the same table over and over, however editing is only allowed for 4 hours.... ()

it can be spamming to some but not to others, i remember one thread has spam of 18 pages and clear was spam but as it was on their thread nothing got done about it.
only time i dont class as spam is if there is a post inbetween or posting a series of fixtures (i.e. ones too long for 1 page)
i agree with what damee said though about a reminder to edit post with 1 hour time limit ( << maybe too short?), im sure most of us do it unintentional though but if the reminder is there then people can choose if to listen or not

It would make more sense if a admin or moderater could delete posts and say something like "Come on philip you have put the fixtures down on this page three times already, give it a rest"

yeah but if its a long list and too short for 1 post then you have to spam.
on free forums what i use for clan league you can do things on there what you cant do on here (no characteristic limit on posts, change size of writing, colour etc).
On there you can edit your own post at anytime (doesn't have a limit) unless you change permissions of course.
one thing whats always got me thinking, why does a thread end after 100 pages? as i feel as i have experienced it myself that some people need to spam to finish it off (especially last page).

the thing with the fixtures and the results is a tricky one. when curt wasnt around the other day i updated the results from his event and posted a new table each time. The reason I did this was because then I knew which results had been put in and which hadn't to save confusion. Then went curt came back i was able to say "all results before my last table are included, any after it arent", which saved a lot of confusion.
In general on clan threads because games are spread over a few weeks, it is generally too late to be able to go back and edit the post.

yeah what many people do is on top of each page they post the fixtures so clan members don't have to trial back several pages

Yea most do, But one or two think posting it maybe 3 or 4 times on a page will make them get played magicilly. But we are going of topic.
You can do 1500 characters on a post, And if you are posting 3 or 4 things in say ten minute you should just keep editing it rather than posting it, But anyway it be impossible to control this.

yeah true, as we wont know who does it purposely/accidental unless they do 5+ posts after each other (not including fixtures) or openly admit to it.
i still think damee's solution is fair and maybe a raise on edit time like you said max (12 hours wasn't it?).

Lol, Don't think it would matter if the editing thing was 2 mins or 2 days with you.

Around 3 days would be perfect for me. By that time, our thread reaches the next page, lol. That way, I could just post it once at the top of the page.
Currently, our thread sometimes takes about 2 days to move on to the next page. In that time, maybe 3 subs and 3 results have to be updated... let me edit!!

Why not just have a minimum character limit?
That way everybody has to have decent high quality posts whenever they're on the forum.
