some people dont like writing long posts though, especially if your posting see how everyone is

I think that is why there is the private message function on here.

Around 3 days would be perfect for me. By that time, our thread reaches the next page, lol. That way, I could just post it once at the top of the page.
Currently, our thread sometimes takes about 2 days to move on to the next page. In that time, maybe 3 subs and 3 results have to be updated... let me edit!!

Ah i see

But: Last night as you do i was browsing the forum for a little and see you post something on every clan thread, I would not class that as spamming as you are a league runner. But about a minute later on every clan thread you posted something else which i found spamming as you could have just edited it. #jussaying

true but sometimes people don't think that they are doing it, sometimes i can post fixture, post how everyone is etc (harder work in offline messages/pms if you can't have a lot of windows open) and before you know it you have posted 3 times in a row.

Yeah, it would have taken me twice as long to go edit every previous post (find the right spot, delete half a sentence, add the new part in), instead of just copy/pasting on each thread.

The question is; Is that classed as spamming though?

In my view when you can clearly edit something, instead of just posting a few words after it, it is spamming.
Can't you get posting rights revoked for spamming?

Probably yeah, but I'm guessing it's about the intention.
Clearly, in my case the intention is not to fill up the threads to annoy people. I'm trying to make the league run smoothly and have everyone know what's going on.
If they started handing out punishments for that, it would be ridiculous... which is why they don't do it lol

so true lol, if they punish you for simply running a league then somethings wrong.

if its intentional spam like the 18 pages on a clan thread one time then i would agree with you.

damees solution as i keep saying is a good one.

Even looking at definitions though, I wouldn't class 2 different messages as spam. A few samples:

"Spam is flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it."

"Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately."

"disruptive messages, especially commercial messages posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail."

One of the best methods I've seen on other forums that reduces the several posts in a row scenario is the 'automatic append' whereby, if the same user reposts on a thread within a certain time (a few minutes) with no intervening posts by other users then the post is automatically appended to the previous post as an edit. This also has the benefit of eliminating the 'double post' scenario.

that would solve everything even better than damee's idea hopefully nick will see this thread when hes back from hols.

only trouble is what if the post is too long? then it has to go into 2 separate posts. fixture posting especially if your in a number of leagues (on pool i find myself posting 3 times in a row on each page, 2 for fixtures, 1 general).

to back up buddys idea, past few days with the server being slow i have double posted about 7 or 8 times (2 or 3 today) and even a triple post which can be turned into one.

i don't mean to double post but on some pages i have to press Post 2 or 3 times to make it load quicker in which case creates double posts.

so buddys idea is quite a good one.

The key definition of spam is posting the same thing in multiple posts, whether they be in the same thread or, as is most common, in multiple threads.

It simply doens't matter how many posts you make in a row so long as there is a reason. Events threads, for example, might only ever have the even runner posting in them, yet they can be the most useful of threads and certainly not spam.

Also, there is no such thing as a "useless post" or similar. What may seem pointless/useless or whatever to some, may be very interesting or useful to another.

One mans spam is another mans steak, as I like to put it
