wow jack, bill gates is just about the worst example you could have used lol. Probably the most charitable person to have walked this planet.
He and Melinda Gates were named as Time Persons of the Year 2005 for their charitable work.

10 billion to him is like 50p change in his back pocket.

i didnt use a very good example, what i meant is all these ppl with silly amounts off money should sort somethin out.

Steve Jobs? Isn't that the fella who worked at Apple, whos factories have the highest suicide rates of all employees?

Least he can afford a good funeral, unlike most of those he enployed in China to make his products.

Hate Apple. Horrible, unethical company, whos stuff once you get past the hype they create, isn't actually that good.

Ahh yes here it is:

Apple chief Steve Jobs has defended the factory in China where the firm's iPhone is produced, following a spate of suicides at the plant.

Workers inside a Foxconn factory in the township of Longhua in the southern Guangdong province, China

Ten workers at Taiwanese company Foxconn have killed themselves this year, all by jumping off buildings at its factory in Shenzhen, China.

Employees at the plant earn just over 900 yuan (£90) per month - the province's minimum wage.

Maybe my previous comments had emotional weakness is, but the more I think about it, I'm actually onto something...

The chap was adopted by a wealthy family, he was given everything he wanted but ovbiously didnt have his real parents (like so many others).

Im assuming he was privately educated and was spoilt rotten by his new family.

He then went on to create great products.

Now, I'm partial to a chicken and mushroom pot noodle, but I doubt the owner of that company wont get much (if any) hype if he/she died. Maybe a slightly extreme comparison but im just exaggerating a point.

He didnt discover gravity, or electricity something that really helps the world we now live in. He made a gadget, now whilst I appreciate people who made a car, I could live without it. Understand me? I love mobiles phones, like most of us do... but I can easily turn it off when I want to for several days, I can live without it.

Every generation something is designed, and like someone previously mentioned, I'm sure it would of been done by someone else...

Also I would point out that facebook beat apple products in numerous polls, awards and surveys... and even though its a tough call, I believe we could do just fine without FB.

My original point about my Grandad though, he deserved more credit. I didnt want want him in the newspaper or anything, just for the country he protected, to then revoke funeral expenses etc was my rant really.

If we're exaggerating points- I'm sure there's some grandma out there, who called the emergency number with that new iphone of hers (her first ever mobile phone because it's so easy for her to use) and allowed medics to get there in time to save her husband. His product saved that life.

Point is- we don't only use phones to make calls. Communication and rapid, easy-to-use interactive devices are the foundation of our infrastructure today. Steve Jobs pushed that type of technology into a new era. That affects us all.

My other point is- usually, when a person dies, it's not particularly nice to start pointing out all the negative things that person did.
Dictators and murderers are remembered that way- not the rest of us.

The guy was a business man!

Jeez, he didnt care about "a grandma using the Iphone to save her husband" PROVIDING she actually paid a saved up expense of 2 months pension for it!

He didnt care about the world having the technology. He cared about HIMSELF bringing the technology forward. So that he could recieve all the credit for such thing.

The fact he defended the company referring 2goods post says it all.

He wanted your money. Not to help Grannys mate.

Unlike my grandad who didnt fight for his country to become a multi millionaire or credit from gadget magazines.

Get real fella. I dont think any one individual deserves more praise that another, providing they arent a rapist or child abuser.

My grandad fought, killed, saved and survived the darkest of places. And you expect me to thank a man who made an Iphone?

Anyone who thinks this is completely dilousional.

My sister is a police officer, she has been in the London riots and deals with crime on a daily basis, sure she gets paid for it but she has a superior power to protect.

You claim all this contribution that Steve offered yet are blind to see that a person contributing/sacrificing there body and soul for the general wellbeing of EVERYONE.

Maybe you need to switch off your iMac, pause your pixar movie on your iPod, get out your chair and actually take a look outside.

Not. at. all. I said several times on previous posts that members of the military and others who put themselves in danger for the community deserve the highest respect and credit. Sorry you missed those- it might have changed your previous post. Being where I'm from, you can imagine that family members of mine had similar experiences as your grandfather. We lost over a dozen family members in the World Wars.

I still don't see how all that has ANYTHING at all to do with Steve Jobs. Make another thread honoring service men and women instead of talking trash about a dead person- that would be much more befitting of what you're trying to get everyone to realise.

How do you know his motivation? Did you ever meet him? How can you judge a person that you've never seen or met. Regardless of the motivation- when people make products that revolutionize the way we work and act, they've made a difference.

You don't have to praise him. But why are you here if you're only going to slate him? Spit on his grave why don't you.

I appreciate why you might be angry cue_power, but this thread is to show respect to Steve Jobs, so lets just stay on topic.

As whocares said, if you want, then feel free to make a thread for honouring service men and women.

This thread isn't the place for arguments.

I dont no his motivations etc, but im throwing out the fact that neither do you.

Users psoted about how he changed the world for the worlds sake. How on earth did that come about?

He could of been the most ignorant self centred person that only cared about cash. Stole his ideas of small time workers in china then killed them to fit "suicide" for all you no.

I have said previously, I dont have anything against Steve Jobs. I can admire what he has done.

My beef is with you stupid ignorant fools as well as the British Goverment etc etc.

He died for the world... Without him and all the people like him, nobody would have Apple products, they wouldnt exist.

I reckon if Steve read this he would understand. Yet you all think im "slating" and "spiting on his grave". Blinded.

That picture must of taken hours uponm hours to do looks really good aswell

He was a great man a great Inventor, and from what people discussed earlier they don't realise he went though alot himself espicially towards the end, He deserved the praise he got (And before you say anything derry yes your grandad equally deserved praise aswell if not more)

Just the problem is you sign your name on that form for the army you are signing your life away hence why it is not so much a shock when somebody is killed even though we know the importance of their job.
