Hello,
I am just Questioning why their is no rule against Deliberate fouls because its unfair, There should be a rule that if you do not hit any ball it goes ball in hand to the opposition.
Let me know why this is not a rule please as I am interested.
Regards

Because there is no way of the computer knowing if the foul is deliberate or a natural miss, and the 'ball in hand' does not happen in snooker.

Ball in hand happens when someone pots the white accidentally so why should deliberate fouls be any different, Yes there is issues with lag but funkysnooker cannot be held responsible for internet providers service?

As Wood said, it would be impossible to implement the 'Deliberate Foul' rule as the Computer cannot determine whether it was a Deliberate foul or just a missed placed shot.
I suspect this has been brought up many times before, but its just something we have to deal with

i think its possible on 3D engine but not on a 2D.
think i mentioned on another thread about it being called "foul and a miss" or "pushout"

It would be possible on a 3D game, but as this isnt a 3D game but a 2D, then its impossible

Even on a 3D engine that would be some pretty difficult coding... For the computer to have the intelligence needed in order to detect whether a shot was missed deliberately or not just isn't going to happen.
Coding any kind of artificial intelligence is one of the hardest tasks anybody can do. It just isn't worth it.

A much simpler way to get round this is to put them back in again. Simples.

It's easy to come up with a punishment for deliberate fouls, but it's hard to put them into place. As said before, it is extremely difficult to detect whether or not the foul was deliberate. If it wasn't deliberate then it wouldn't be fair to put them back in again.
