Thats football, if you don't put your chances away then you will get punished.

In all fairness, Newcastle played well hitting the woodwork
But with Chelsea missing a Penalty and atleast 4 easy sitters on chance for chance I would say they did.
Thing is Newcastle have given themselfs a extremly high expectation of what they want this season and with the games they have played and coming up it's going to get tough.
End of day it's Chelsea nobody expects 3 points so just let's hope they take it on the chin and continue in great form.

Lol!!!
Of course Chelsea should have won...
Our chances were many and actually on target, Newcastle could only manage the woodwork.
Missed Luiz' tackle, was having a slash but not many said it was a red card.
Newcastle really shocked me today. I was dissappointed with them that they made it so easy for us to attack. Newcastle were low on numbers at the back, Chelsea had more 3 on 2's in this game than the last 5 seasons!
I know Chelsea haven't been at their best recently but how dare Newcastle leave 2 at the back. They deserved the punishment and a wake up call. Not even Man City can leave two at the back, thats just really poor.
Sturridge was excellent, Krul was great, brilliant game overall. Taylor, Simpson and Guthrie I think it was, Im not entirely sure how they didnt get booked! Deliberate trips on our players, who managed to stay on their feet... but ref should of still booked them after.
Also too many times did the ref give us an advantage outside newcastles penalty box, when we took the ball back in our own half. Not sure how thats an advantage. I know I'd rather have a freekick edge of the box than posession in my own half!!
Terry for me though, was man of the match. I think he prefers big strikers as opposed to little pacey ones. Everytime Terry was on either Shola or Ba, they didnt produce. But when Terry wasnt there, they were firing shots, turning defenders..

At least we have some easier games lined up where we should also have our stronger side playing. Guthrie played some great balls today, but his partnership with Cabaye isn't quite as good as Tiote's.
I would have liked to see Santon play today, and also Best.
First half was fairly even. I still think if Luiz got sent off then the score line could have been the other way round.
2nd half we were excellent, and Chelsea were very poor.
How we didn't even get one goal is a mystery to me.
I think we must have hit the bar 3 times, and the post once, and had a shot cleared off the line. Anyway, we're still 5th which isn't bad by all means. I'm pretty sure we'll be yo-yo'ing in and out of the top 4 throughout this month.
Norwich, Swansea, West Brom, Bolton & Liverpool all this month. Looks to me like we could get at least 11 points out of those games.

One thing I do admire about Newcastle, is that I dont think any of their players would get into Man United, Man City or Chelsea...
But their team work and work rate is excellent.
Im not saying they are weak players, because they are not. They are good players with great potential.
So for me, Chelsea can take loads of positives from not only the result or performance, but the creative side to our game and chances.
Valencia are up next at the Bridge.
Worryingly if Valencia win their game in hand in La Liga, they will be 1 point behind Barcelona... 31 points from 13 games or something is very good! So they are a team in good form.
Would be very hard to take, elimination. Especially in how its happened. Last minute penalty to Valencia to draw 1-1 when it was never a penalty. Last minute loser to Levekusen and a missed penalty against Genk to finish them off.
So to go out now after harsh decisions and complacency would be hard to take.

Luiz was a very lucky boy, if that was in the second half rather than the first 5 minutes of the game he was off. Newcastle would have gone on to dominate a game 11 v 10 for 85 minutes, so it was a huge factor.
After that though 11 V 11 I think Chelsea shaded it, despite Newcastle hitting the woodwork 3 times. Mata ran the show, poor Ryan Taylor was found out by Daniel Sturridge throughout the game.
I think 3-0 flattered Chelsea, the 2nd and 3rd were the cause of an injury to Steven Taylor, the 2nd was a mess from Chelsea tbh, Torres looked scared to shoot when he had the goal at his mercy, in the end managed to tee up Kalou who shot straight at Krul but he couldn't react quick enough to save it.
Think 1-1 would have been fair, but just because Pardew kept that moron Obertan on the pitch, I'm taking a goal off them.
Simpson did get booked once play had stopped btw Derry for his attempted trip on Ramires, and I'm not sure how Ryan Taylor stayed on the pitch after his tackle on Sturridge :\

Ryan Taylor didn't have a very good game, and with Colo injured early on, our defence was pretty poor in comparison to what it usually is, which is why I was begging Pardew to play Santon, but he played Perch? Silly decision.
And to start with Lovenkrands was a mistake.
And to keep Obertan on the pitch when he just wasn't good enough all game was another mistake.
If only Marveux wasn't injured, Tiote wasn't injured, Best was playing, Santon was playing, and Colo didn't have a bad back.......... To be fair, I think we've done well against the top 3 teams considering we haven't had our best side out against them. Both of our loses were slightly unfortunate.
I can't wait for Ben Arfa to play like he did in his first few games with Newcastle. When he just ran circles around Man City & Everton players.

Ben Arfa is consistently inconsistent, hes been like that all of his career.
You lot just need to beat the teams around and below you and you'll be fine.
Just heard that Anelka and Alex have both put in transfer requests after the game.

You are right Mike, just seen the bookings.
I've seen Chelsea dominate a newly promoted side this season with 9 v 11 and a goal down for 70 minutes or so, so I couldnt say that it would of changed the game that much .
That challange of Sturridge was dreadful! scissor challange at Knee hight... but thank god that Sturridge is a wimp! Lol.
The chance where Krul came charging out, Sturridge slowwed down and moved out the way. A similar incident a few games back, a 50/50 for a header and Sturridge ran out the way, the fans booed him.
So when Taylor is sulking because Sturridge is tooooo good for him, Sturridge just got out the way of the challange.
Was great to see him just shrug at the ref and smile as so many others would have rolled around, dying on the floor and because the refs are so weak the red would of no doubt come out.
--- Thomas Vermalen has a goal and an assist...within a minute! How the f.. ha

That was against QPR yeh? Even I could run circles around them by myself, so that doesn't really say much.

Didn't that QPR win the league last year beating Newcastle.. ?
But yes it was QPR. Isnt as if they are much worse than Newcastle or Everton, or Villa etc.
Premier league is a good standard all round

What? Newcastle were in the Prem last season..

Credit to Chelsea for doing well with 9 players that game, but QPR played awful.
If you went down to 10 men against Newcastle at St James Park, I can almost guarantee that you wouldn't have won.
Chelsea did play well in the first half, and Newcastle were poor in defence, but Pardew had a tough job with all of the injuries we've had lately, so that was bound to be the case.
2nd half though, you can't deny that Newcastle were by far the better team. Chelsea just sat back and then occasionally went on the counter attack. It was a tough game for both sides, and things just didn't go our way. A draw would have been a much fairer result.
My internet froze at about 88 minutes, so by the time I got back and saw that Chelsea had scored 2 I couldn't believe it.
3-0 is a good result for Chelsea, but the scoreline didn't reflect the game at all.
I wasn't happy with a few players performances throughout the game, mainly Lovenkrands, Raylor, Perch, Barfa and Obertan. All 5 of which were pretty poor throughout. So if you take that into consideration, we did extremely well to keep it at 1-0 with 5 or so minutes left.

Good ol' Will Buckley has got him sulking!
I saw Will out clubbing not so long ago too and considering he is thought to be a decent sized striker, he was half the size of me! I didnt no who he was until my mate told me in all honesty.
I can afford to club where Brighton players club! Check me out ay ay ay! haha.
For those who dont no what im talking about... Will Buckley scored a 92nd minute goal to beat Woodys team. If you were unclear!

Former Brazil captain Socrates has died at the age of 57.
He had been in a critical condition with an intestinal infection since being admitted to intensive care on Friday at a hospital in Sao Paulo.
Socrates, was widely regarded as one of the greatest ever midfielders, was moved onto a life support machine on Saturday.
RIP big man!

Stoke winning 1-0 at everton, Stoke have only won one away game in there last 16 games. And up to 8th..
Looking at the league table and watching MOTD there is no big 4 anymore. Its a big 6 now, 2Manchester teams, Arsenal, spurs, Chelsea and liverpool.
Be interesting to see who gets in the top four this year I would say City, Man utd, Spurs and arsenal.
Then there is the stokes, NUFC, Evertons and aston villas for the midfeild in the table..
Makes La liga and all the other leagues look garbage compared to premier league.
Normally all english teams make it to the last 8 of the champions league but this year could only be Arsenal who make it through to the last 16!
Would love Man utd to be knocked out early, Already out of carling cup, Behind in the league and tough 3rd round game v City.. Fergie out

Rumours that Rafa Benitez is going to be the new manager of PSG.
Great news for him if true, they are a club with huge ambitions, and a huge cash flow to match.
They are really struggling at the moment though, so he needs to turn them around.
I expect them to win the Europa League this season now, be French Champions with 3 seasons, and in that time be fighting for Champions League trophies.
All Rafa ever needed at Liverpool was time and money, if he does go to PSG he will have it.
