Ajax fans were so good at Old Trafford tonight.
Derry I told you Meireles wasn't great when you signed him but you said I was being bitter.
The way he went to track a runner rather than stop Levezzi shooting was hilarious. Brought back the memories!
Other than January of last year, he was poor for us.
Also Terry is out for 6-8 weeks I thought? Hence why it's Alex and Cahill.
Ever since Roman bought you he sanctioned deals for players irrespective of their age. You had an experienced squad, then you had an ageing squad, now you seem to have an old squad.
Chelseas main players are Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Cole, at their age they will need to play less, and they will need to put their egos aside and accept it.
These players have already seen off Scolari and Ancelotti. Seems AVB is the next on their radar.
One bad thing about AVB though is he seems to think too much about the game. Uses words like efficiency, mentality, organisation etc... words that Fergie for example wouldn't use.
I see AVB as your typical foreign coach. He tries to coach the game, teach it. In England though a lot of that falls on deaf ears. The best managers in England seem to be more inspirational rather than technical.

Also just like to say that In-ger-lands Ravel Morrison was fined 7K a few days back for homophobic comments.
Barely any news of this, and what a lenient punishment.
The FA's take on discrimination is hilariously hypocritical.

Valenica paper today:
'Stoke city comes without crouch. but with 3000 hooligans'
First ha;f we played great, Jones missed 1 extremly easy chance and 1 half chance should of been 2 up though before they even scored there's and then it would of been a uphill battle for them not the other way around
Valencia showed skill Stamina and pace today they passed the ball like you would expect any spanish team they were great! And I think they are a cheaky outsider to win the Europe league I don't think they will i'll go for United but it's worth a cheaky £10!

02:04 Fri 24 Feb 12 (GMT) [Link] Agree with you here, although I haven't read about this case. This should be classed in the same category as racism. Society as a whole and the FA aren't there yet though.

Indeed, any form of discrimination is abhorrent.
Interesting comments from John Henry about the Torres/Carroll scenario:
The fee for Torres was dependent on what Newcastle asked for Carroll.
The negotiation for us was simply the difference in prices paid by Chelsea and to Newcastle.
Those prices could have been £35m (from Chelsea for Torres) and £20m (to Newcastle for Carroll) 40 and 25 or 50 and 35.
It was ultimately up to Newcastle how much this was all going to cost
So basically whatever Newcastle charged us for Carroll, we were going to charge Chelsea £15M more for Torres.

It isnt Alex and Cahill! Alex is long gone lol. Its Luiz.
But yeah I think you are right in areas. However, it isnt that they are tired or unfit to play "the aging players" Because let face it, Lampard is our top scorer with half the games played. He will score goals, even if he is 50. He has that awareness, that hunger and ability to score. Miereles doesnt have either quality. I cannot believe a Liverpool reject who wasnt a starter is a start over Frank Lampard? Surely this is the most outragous thing in football EVER!?
Lampard who scorred us what, 25-30 goals for the past 10 years... Miereles - does sweet FA!
Its dirty, and I blame AVB for being a dirty person. just because they are both portuguese? Its disgusting. Its actually discrimination I feel. Haha!
Its horrible for me, I have never hated someone so much as I do AVB. All this pormise, all the money for him - I'd rather Rafa FRICKING Benitez and I hate him!
Its embarrassing having someone who is a complete rookie. I honestly think every single Chamapionship manager is better than him.
Chelsea are bread and butter... we have the players, they have ages a few months? So? They are still better than 95% of the other prem players!
I feel sorry for Roman in a way, but dont because if you act stupid and irresponsible with your money, then this happens.

Yeah, meant Sideshow Bob now, Alex!
Leave Boas alone, he's 'not in a good moment' as he would say
Rafa would be ideal for Chelsea, you know.
His record at Liverpool was better than that of Shankly, quite considerably as well.
If he gets an owner who will back him financially he'd be brilliant.
His work with Valencia was similar to that of Fergie with Aberdeen. Knocking off 2 teams who always finished 1st/2nd to win the title Barca/Madrid Celtic/Rangers and going on to win European tournaments.
I'd have him back straight away at the end of next season, I'm sure we'd see less Downings, Hendersons and Adams which can only be a good thing. It is a shame that Rafa never got to sign the players he wanted at the time, Silva, Aguero, Jovetic, Alves were all players we wanted, but H+G decided were not worth the money. Bit galling really when the prices we were quoted total £60M for the lot.
Instead it was Dossena, Crouch, Degen and Riera.
What was it Mourniho said about eggs and an omlette?

Benitez is good?
He may have been good at Valencia, but look at what he's done since then. HE was good in the early stages of his Liverpool career. Then he sold Alonso and replaced him with 17m Aquilani- if you're tight on money (as is his excuse) then you can't make a deal like that lol.
The squad he left his successor at Liverpool was hugely dependent on two players to play well- Torres and Gerrard. No depth at all!!
Then he goes to Inter and manages to guide the Mourinho squad that had won the treble a few months earlier into 6th place by December. Brilliant. Again he uses the excuse that ownership is not giving him money (again despite this being the squad that dominated everything the season before).
That's pretty much the extent of my knowledge of Benitez, but it seems to me that both the big clubs he managed recently were left in absolute tatters by the time he left.

I dont want Benitez purely because he thinks he is great.
There is an attitude problem for the way managers look at life. For example, anyone could manage Barcelona... thats just common sense. The team doesnt need guidance, and even of Guardiola wanted them to play a different style, I really cannot see them listening to him. The players are all intelligent, well, Xavi, Andreas, Leo, Villa... are all clever players.
But then Rafa Benitez seems to have the "I could do that, I could do that"... and he wants to be incharge of that team...
Whereas I feel Mourinho has the approach, "I want to BEAT that team".
Anyone could manage a great team, but thats not a good approach to have. Having the approach where you would prefer to beat the best shows commitment, determination, ambition and desire. Wanting to start at the top shows lazyness, complacency and weakness.
AVB appears to be a wannabe. He is trying to replicate Mourinhos style that he wants to be individual... but the only problem is, he cannot manage. His style is wrong. He is stupid.
I watch every minute of every Chelsea game... I see how comical it really is. If you watch closely and then compare it to any other team... theres so many errors tactically.
I do blame the players as well. I wouldnt like to be brilliant to make my boss who is an idiot look good either... but I would play my best for the fans, customers, sponsors. I dont think they are trying hard enough

All dutch clubs won yesterday and 3 out 4 are through to next round...only an exit for ajax.........smile...........

Well without trying to bore you to death, Liverpool were a mess of the field and on it when during Rafas last year.
Yes we paid £17M for Aquilani, but it was paid in instalments. £5M here, another £5M there another after he had played so many games and other add ons. Not many teams would sell players of the quality of Alonso in bits like Roma did for us, but that was the only deals we could make, because we didn't have any money to buy players out right.
As for his time at Inter, 2 trophies in 6 months, and Moratti has admitted he was mistaken to sack him.

lol his "2 trophies" with Inter were the equivalent of the Community Shield and the Club World Cup (in the final against TP Mazembe lol). I think they would gladly trade that in for a league position higher than 6th at the time, 13 points behind the top of the table (by Christmas!!).
I really don't know that much about Benitez, but looking at his former clubs just after he left, it doesn't seem like he left them in a good position at all...

Brilliant start to a brilliant day of football.
Spurs looking majorly dangerous on the counter but then their defence (as well as Arsenal's) is totally shocking. Won't be long until Koscielny is off I reckon, bring on the second half.
2-2 so far for those that didn't know.
4-3 to spurs @ FT will do

Worst dive this season that's the sort of thing that great players don't do another reason why in my opinion bale is overrated, arsenal started better the first goal was a slight fluke and arsenal have been dominating much of the game.

It's mostly the top players that do dive, ronaldo is a perfect example..
Bale is a top player, far from overated in my opinion. I'm sure most managers in the world would happily have him in there team, I can't be doing with cheats but it is most of the best players that do it.
