I propose that the rule be brought back about players having to lose their newbie status before being able to enter tournaments. Many players are frustrated by those who have just started not really knowing what they are doing, but even more frustrating are people who reset or have new accounts, thus the level of the game does not reap the rank reward it deserves, plus there is no real loss for players who reset, which shouldnt be an option they regularly choose to do.

I disagree because i thinks its realy funny when the player rages because they lost to a fake newbie

I dont like newbies playing in tournaments because they just whack the balls around the table, wasting time. A double DQ has happened to me a couple of times because of this lol

If you happen to play a serial tapper, you can just as eaasily get a double DQ too. Some propoer newbies (as opposed to resetters) are actually good players, having spent months as a guest before finally signing up.

I think no newbies in tournaments should be brought back in but only on snooker, on the darker side (pool) more people join up so newbies should be allowed over there whereas over here we have more regulars than newbies.

I think it should either be done on both or not at all. personally i don't see the issue with newbies joining as you don't lose as much rank as you would do if they wasn't a newbie. for example you play a 675 (newbie) and your an 800 normally you lose lets say 13 points in Original it takes around 11.7 from that due to newbiness (did 90% edge modification) so you would only lose 1.3 rank instead of 13.
saying that i don't like the site rewarding resetters either.
my solution would be go back to friendly tournaments then you can play rank when you like and avoid newbies if you don't like them, in tournaments you can't avoid newbies but since it would be friendly it wouldn't matter.
tournapoints could stay too so you would only lose the rank which for those serious about rank or those who don't like ranked but forced into it if enter a tournament its not a bad thing.

I think if you look at the bigger picture its not a big deal for new players to start off playing 30 normal ranked games before entering tournaments, as for those resetters or new account makers they can knock off 30 ranked games in a couple of hours and make a more realistic rank.
Therefore I believe it would massively reduce the amount of frustration for those of us who see playing newbies as a waste of time and/or effort, while not really affecting the minority of new or resetting players who would join or reset knowing that they have to play 30 games before being able to play tournaments.

actually the guy i lost to wasnt a newbie and deserved to win....but leading up to it had they been real players id have got at least 10-15 rank boost before getting to the final, whereas newbies give 0.6 a time

It's probably best not entering tournaments, seen as tho ranking seems a lot more important than the tournament win?
It was changed to boost the number of tournament entries, and with tournaments been the main part of the site theres not much chance of it been changed back.

should have stuck to them all been friendly, that way nobody can moan about newbies or rank.
if its changed now tho ppl will complain about not getting rank

Don't see the problem, you lose 0.1 if you lose and if you win you can brag you beat a hustler
If newbies couldn't enter tournies i doubt id ever get posting rights or into tournaments haha.
