On the forums...One of the main reasons for having moderators...

Not really, you seem to have totted up your posts in the short time you've been on the forums so I'm pretty sure you don't find it boring either.

but im playing pool aswell.....

when i'm not playing the game, i'm watching mates play, moderating the forum, dealing with the endless pm's i get from users (not complaining i'm glad they are coming to me for help), i'm accepting pictures, reading through forums to make sure nothing bad has been said, checking for cheaters, keeping an eye on the members bar, chatting to my own friends....


any other questions?

this job is about 500 times more stressful than any one makes out. when people refuse to read hte rules and understand them it makes my job extremely hard. when people ask questions like "when does the tournament start" when it tells you when you first log in... and on the help page.. and like ever 2 minutes when its ready to be joined... it gets frustrating.

i'm in no way complaining cuz i love the job even more than i thought i would, and i think i've been doing a pretty okay job so far. moderators are essential to making this site run smoothly, and its nice to hear positive feedback instead of constant doubts

Hello funkysnooker, Its k3v here from pool. I would have posted this myself but I have not played 50 games of snooker and therefore cannot apply for posting rights yet. Anyway I believe that anyone who is undermining any of the moderating choices within this site is criticizing the whole of the moderating procedure. Brighteyes, however long she has been on this site, however many posts she has, however many games she has played, whether she is a Newbie, Adept, or Virtuoso, should not and will not be judged from any of the above.

Brighteyes, for the people who have posted upon this topic and do not play pool, is a valued and well respected member of funkypool, like many of you she has chosen to play funkysnooker and apply to be a moderator. Successful with the application she has obviously met the requirements and everyone should commend this achievement and not criticize it.

I myself do not play many games on pool and this is mainly down to the moderating aspect of the site. This is unlikely to change in the future and I would not be surprised if this was the case for any other moderator. Moderating on the site is voluntary, and people should never forget that. Because after all the moderators on both sites are putting some of their spare time aside and moderating on the site to benefit you, the users.

If anyone deserves a query or two raised its me.
I wasn't chosen on this site, i tranferred over, and i'm probably on the least out of the current active mods.
Despite this, when i am on i do a good job i think, and there is the forum side to moderating which doesn't require being on the server.
The point i'm making is providing there is a core of moderators who make it on regulary and others to support them when they can, then time online, games played, being well known etc should not be a factor, please remember that with the current procedure the team will be added do (if any candidates are deemed suitable) on a reasonably regular basis as the site grows.

i think k3v has said the main thing here...brighteyes like many others play this and pool. myself knowing her from both knowing she is a great person and she defo deserves the mod job and like k3v said "it is volutary" they aint getting paid for it...there doing this to improve the site for the better... i would rather someone like that than who just cares about rank... moderaters dont have to have great ranks or anything and some mods dont come online much but they do a bit job backstage ie...sorting complaints, accepting pictures etc etc etc... you cant judge someone unless you know them... and by sounds of it thats what this thread was made up to do... brighteyes is a great mod and she is proving herself...well done bright

i simply said i don't know her from adam and hardly ever seen her name pop up anywhere on funkysnooker during times i have been on... most of the day lol...

if she is on for a bit at 1am, how many people are on then lol, apart from our counterparts in auzzie land lol... (all 3 of em)

There are guys and gals on here all the time during the day and night... give them a chance of moderating... These are the people that can make the difference... Weather they played 200 or 20000 games, thats doesnt matter really... its about presence on the site. and i have'n heard of brighteyes until this thread!

alright knightmare, first of all lets clear things up, on weekdays i am on here at exactly 8pm (once the time changes back its 7 pm right now i think,crazy day light savings time) i must have done my maths wrong because i did the time as if i was on at 8pm my time, which is approximately the time i go to do my school work.

and for you to say that the people who are on here during the "uk day" deserve more of a chance at moderating than i do, is ludacris. there are plenty of people on here when i come on, and if you have not seen me, or noticed my posts on the forums i'm more worried about your supposed dedication to the site. i come on for 20 minutes at 6:30 am my time, then i am on at 3:00 my time and stay on for a few hours. and that is only weekdays. on weekends i'm on here loads more, unless i'm out on the town or something.


sadly enough i cannot, and will not, be on 24 hours a day. i think you're proving to post ignorant comments saying that the people on during the day are the ones that make a difference, and also saying that only 3 auzzie's are on when i'm on. most of the people who post on these forums know who i am, and speak to me in the game.


i posted a very understandable post earlier in this thread, and i'd appreciate it if you would please not undermind my chances at being a helpful mod. i'm sorry for your mates who didn't get the job, but this thread and your comments are seriously starting to become a blow to the stomach.

why bother about there rank anyway, as long as they do a good job, they make good mods.

Knightmare, stopping slagging _brighteyes_ off, i see she hasnt play much games and what? She does her job like she is asked, shes a great girl like most of the other users say.

I applyed for the job and i didnt get it and im happy that it was _brighteyes_ or drunk_lad that got it, they both deserved it!

It takes a lot of courage being a moderator - time consuming, stressful and relatively unrewarded. The fact that they give their free time up which could be used playing on the site to moderate all aspects of the site is admirable as they have to deal with stupid idiots like me.

The fact that she hasn't played many games is irrelevant and helps her more than anything as it proves she is working a lot of the time.

I see her on here a lot and for that she is probably better than some other moderators as she is actually around to help the site out. I personally would loathe doing this job as I'm here for the game without having to deal with the numerous picture requests, rule breaking in forum and chat room etc etc.

For that _brighteyes_ and other moderators deserve respect and applause for keeping this site running. I hope you change your mind knightmare as many would agree with me that you are wrong in this case.

Precisely tricky, I feel exactly the same. Except for being happy about not getting it, as I didn't apply 'cause I can't, lol. But good luck in getting it in future!
