Yes, thats a very workable option.
However to bring back the core point of _wrx_'s original thread (as opposed to this one, which was linked there) and as mentioned by 2good, that being the prevention of people you deem unsuitable from entering a room you create.
The only suggestion so far which lets you do this without affecting other players is the private game/invite option.
Initially Nick suggested this idea would give a list of players of similar rank, however this could also use the same priciple of offering a selection of ranks via drop-down, and letting you invite from there*
You can invite as many players as you wish, and when one accepts, the invite is cancelled for the others.
Invites are unobtrusive, as a user only views them by clicking the invotes button if and when they want to.
* the reason i made that note point was to see what opinions are on the differnce between being widely allowed to choose your opponent, or should the choice be limited to players of similar rank as Nick suggested a while back.
Keeping potential opponents to similar rank (say plus or minus 50 points) would help prevent abuse of any proposed system (a newbie only ever playing virtuosos, or vice-versa)

Just a quick note regarding the "personal" stuff. I haven't commented or reacted on it as no amount of quoting or contextual manupulation means a thing because all anyone has to do on an online forum where what is actually said and meant can be read by everyone from the start.

Was adding humour, trying to make light of the situation. We don’t want to get too serious over funky now do we…
Also was there a fault with the internet connection, if yes, obvious site is down for improvements..
Plus there’s no point everyone trying to defend themselves, we’ve moved on. It’s a fresh start.
Hope to see some new ideas develop regarding the threads topic.

The sites were down because of a problem with the server, not because any updates were being added, updates are still coming soon... (not sure exactly when)

No-one said there will be 15 red arcade... It is, and will only be available if Nick decides to implement it, and when he has the time to create such a feature. So please do not get your hopes up, as nothing is certain.

lol just passing time by reading this thread..
lol this is a good example of the "wrong" person being backed and the right person whom is being ignored throughout and getting verbally abused at.
Ha the good old days, this should make good reading to those who think politics does not exist everywhere.

But for the rest of us its not that entertaining to read, why have you brought this thread back if your not going to add to the actual topic?

Something that I thought about while reading spinner's post. Would it be possible to install a drop down menu on the "play online game" screen that has the ranks on, so the player can click one of these and the rooms with that rank owner are displayed.
For example, say someone wants to play someone in the 600's. They click the drop down menu and a list comes up:
500's
600's
700's
800's
900's
The player would then click 600's and a list of all games where the owner is of a 600 rank is displayed. This doesn't restrict anybody from playing someone else, as this drop down menu would be available to everyone.
Your thoughts on this?
