Billiards was popular in the early 1900's in US. 3 cushion became the most popular game because carom billiards was to easy for top pros to win. Wille Hoppe could run 300 points straight, in carom billiards. Between carom and 3 cushion there was a game called Balkline Billiards. It had lines drawn in a grid on a billiards table. The added rule was that the carom must make both balls travel to different places on the grid. This was to prevent pros like hoppe from getting balls in the corner and running 200 points and out. Pretty soon hoppe and others mastered balkline. 3 cushion was the next step in leveling competition. New players emerged because the top balkline players only went to balkline tournaments seeing as how they knew they'd win. But when they became the only players at the tourneys, the tourny directors paid out less and less and soon Hoppe took up 3 cushion where he became a multi-time world champion. It was more fair tho because the high run was only 18pts for a long time

If a 15 red snooker game were introduced then the other two games we currently have would become non-exsistant. It would offer the same high breaks as original does, but it would be easier to achieve these breaks so therefore original players may leave to play it. Also the arcade players will want to get higher breaks so also join in on playing 15 red snooker. This causes the dilema of the other two games fading away. Yes it may be popular but in theory we would be losing two games rather than gaining 1 wouldnt we?

I like the idea of billiards or killer as it is something different and would be a breath of fresh air IMO. Different skills are required and could improve you on the actual snooker games which is why im all for it!

(Just copied from my idea on the 'new game on funkysnooker' thread)

Snooker darts

Simple really. Target on snooker table. 1 shot only and get it as close to the middle target as possible. The closer you get, the higher you score. Total added up after lets say 9 throws. But each time, it gets harder as obstacles are in the way. Black areas are barriers. And wel could have 9 'holes' like mini golf on pool. Like a novelty game.

3 targets as an example.

Damee why are you always pickin' on poor lil' me. Actually I have read books on the subject so no need to google. Specifically a book called McGoorty, an autobiography of player that was at the top from 1900 to 1960. Also I've watched alot of 3 cushion matches with commentary where the announcers give a lot of history on the match. Also, I got to spend about an hour with a player named John Schmidt while he played 3 cushion in a pool hall in Viriginia. John Schmidt was the 2006 US open 9 ball champion and has a high run of 450 in straight pool. He's one of the top pros alive today, he personally taught me alot about 3 cushion. If any one wants to see some 3 cushion matches in full (but without commentary) go to http://www.propoolvideo.com It even has fullscreen when you do free registration. Its a BEAUTIFUL game.
