What would happen to all the occurences of 107 then? Lyle has 97 at the moment and i bet he would be annoyed if it got changed to 15 reds and got lets say 113, he would lose all them occurences, as would many others.

Serves him reyt for being so good..
To be honest, i think 15 red arcade should replace the 10 red we have now. Would make getting a cent easier, as you could get away with potting a few reds and still have the chance of a cent on.

Occurences would stay the same until a higher break was reached which, knowing lyle would be.

Yeah but a few of you have had to work hard for a load of 107's and then they would just go without being shown. Would be annoying.

I waited two years for my first century on arcade and even longer for my 107, and I still wouldnt mind losing them for the sake of a 15 ball arcade.
It should be viewed as a new challenge for people.

I think that when the 147 break will be possible in the 15 reds arcade version, the few of them who had many occurences of 107 will kind of forget about it because they will be too busy trying to get higher breaks than 107; so it won't annoy them so much...

Yeah agree with you there, and i guarantee the 147 will be achieved in the first day also a lot of half century's will be made, so i could imagine 600-800 players would like this idea as well

And me but i think nick wants to introduce either killer or billiards, killer wouldnt work in my view on a snooker format, and billiards in my view would soon lose its appeal after a month or so, hence 15 red arcade would in my view be the more popular choice, it depends on what nick would want to add and what he feels would provide a more comprehesive snooker game.
Also for realism 15 red arcade would favour killer snooker
How many times have i said in my view there...

Adding a new game has to be the priority here. Over the years, billiards has been far more requested than killer, and i think it would be a help in pulling users to the site.
I also liked the idea of a novelty game like golf on pool, but where you had to get out of snookers.
Regarding the existing games, arcade has succeeded and pulled users to the site because of it's simplicity and because it provides a quick game.
I think its vital to remember that almost everyone posting here are experienced long term players. So though a relative few are looking for more of a challenge on their favourite table, it has to be remembered that this could actually turn away potential new members.
Also, there is simply no way the current arcade table can fit in the extra balls, and if you're gonna make it bigger, you're just heading towards the original table.
So, theres my question - if you want more of a challenge and the chance to make higher breaks, why not simply play original?

You're right in the fact that we need to think about potentially new members, but what happens when they become more experienced? It is a very cyclical system.
I agree that billiards is something new, and an original idea. Although I also fear it will decrease in popularity quicker than we might all come to expect. Who knows, I may be wrong!
"if you want more of a challenge and the chance to make higher breaks, why not simply play original?"
I had hoped bringing in a game such as this, would be a medium between the extemes, but unfortunatly, at this time nick is right, 3 plain snooker based games are not sustainable.
So there begs the question, that if this were to be introduced, what game would you change.
For some reason I automatically thought original, mainly due to arcades popularity, amongst new and old users alike. Although, after thinking more, and reading through users posts, I would be more swayed towards modifying arcade... But I do not think this will happen, not yet anyway.
In terms of new users, if this 15 ball arcade worked, and was not at the same level of toughness as original, and was more user-friendly (in terms of screen resolution and size), then would they know different, they wouldn't know that there was this 'easier' arcade, therefore bringing the whole quality of play up a level! (theoretically)!

original snooker - small balls big table - hard
arcade 10 red snooker - big balls small table - easy
arcade 15 red snooker - medium size balls medium size table - medium
I reckon its as blunt as that

^^ I'd been waiting for that!
How can potting small balls into bigger pockets and positioning on a table where you have more room to play, be harder?
Seriously though. Monitor size is a big factor. On a 14 inch monitor the original table is small. However, on a 19 inch, the arcade table is tiny.
I agree with Luckypot that new user wouldn't know about the existing arcade, if a newer one was introduced with a similar level of difficulty, but there is still the game time issue.
At the moment, if I don't have much time, or want a quick game, I play arcade.
If both games were 15 reds, it would make no difference.
Sorry, i know that doesn't help the debate much!
However, I'll come back to the same question i asked last time, but to make it clear, this is a genuine question and not meant in any negative way :
Why do experienced arcade players, who say they want more of a challenge, not want to play original?
Again, not being awkward, i'm just curious as to the genuine reasons why.

I agree with mike
we shouldnt modify arcade snooker but introduce a medium version between arcade and original
it would keep all our stats and there could be a new table of stats for the mediium version
from my view i would hate to have the stats changed because players work hard for them so i think the new table would solve the problem.
or we could have billiards because it would help howver i think we should have on the practice table maybe. not as a game.

This is the dilemma we face.
killer is a pool game and would not work on snooker in my view, however it has a fun factor about it and would be in my view preffereable over billiards.
Billiards, is a traditional cue sport more suited to a snooker table than killer, however i believe that after a while (a month or so) the amount of people still playing would be similar if not less so than original.
15 red arcade (which i think Nick has no interest in) would require a new sized table and maybe new sized balls, however i think it would be the most played of the 3 game options.
To add to the dilemma we all desperately want a new game type!

Two main reasons.
1) It takes to long to complete a game.
2) There are less players on the original side thus harder to find a game
A 15 ball arcade would finish quicker than orig and I think that (if introduced) 15 ball arcade would generate lots of interested and it can be compared directly to real life snooker, highest breaks, 147 etc etc.

The second point. If arcade players moved onto orig, then this problem wouldn't exist!

If I understand the clarification well, the primary objective is to add a 3rd type of game, which will be killer or billiards. Modifying an existing snooker game is only a side suggestion. Adding a third snooker game hasn't even been proposed by nick.
Most people here discuss about modifying or adding a snooker game, which I think is getting us a bit away from the main debate: what should be the new game, killer or billiards?
In my opinion it's obvious that in terms of users count, adding a third snooker game would not be better than adding a totally different game (killer / billiards). If anyone wants to play snooker online, he'll already get satisfied with at least one of the games this site offers.
That's why I suggest we should mainly center our debate on nick's last post, which I totally agree with: the newly added game shouldn't be a snooker one.
Another opinion from mine is that we can't modify any of the 2 existing snooker games, because it would cause too much disappointment from users who would see their stats reevaluated / deleted.
To summarize, my answer to nick's request is the following:
1) I prefer billiards than killer, and would appreciate it to be added.
2) I think modifying any existing snooker game would be a bad idea.
