Typical Tom post:

Away fans were crap and we outsung them, the ref cheated us and the players were rubbish.

Does that mean a typical Mike post is making things up?

I said the away fans were crap 'cause they were, but did I say we outsung them? And I didn't say the ref cheated us, I said the linesman cheated on one decision, which he quite clearly did.

Well when you pass judgement, presumably you have a standard in your mind which must be achieved for a team to have good fans.

TBH, your a laughing stock for the rest of the premiership, thats not the fans fault like, but you are also overly proud of yourselves, cos you aint all that, as shown by the fact that it took shearer to get bums on seats

Anyway, duno why I always talk about Newcastle, your insignificant to us

We're all but relegated, the club is in a complete state, and as you said we are the laughing stock of the league. But even then, there was 46,000-47,000 turning up week in, week out. 5,000 under capacity isn't that big a thing, especially taking into account Newcastle's position.

And I don't have a standard by which a team pass and I would class them as good fans, but when they don't make a sound until they score, they class as crap fans to me

All I will say is their is a reason that so many late goals are scored, and so many penalties are given in front of The Kop, and their is a reason The Kop is above and beyond the ghalaget end or whatever you call it

You might well get 40,000+ but most fo them get on the teams back, and boo the team.

Never have I heard boos at Anfield. Or "barmy army" or "toon army" for that matter.... ZZZZZZZZZZZ

Tom, am just winding you up, have been all night

Its not hatred, its jealousy, a natural emotion to feel when you wish you had what we have, to the cleaners the players, and as you say, rafa

I did sorta click to that, but what you were saying is what a majority of the people not from up here believe what is going on at this club, so thought I'd better get my opinion out as well

Sadly I'm in agreement with Mike on Shearer keeping us up, not because he wont be a good manager (I don't know about that), but because I really don't think that no matter who is our manager, anyone can install some passion for this club into the majority of our players.

I did think at first that he may be able to do that, and if anyone could he could, but from what I saw yesterday, other than the ones who have been faultless for effort the rest of the season, Michael Owen was the only one who I saw any change in. The rest just really couldn't care less, they're probably already thinking about which Premier League club they'll get transfered to next year.

I think reading Jamie Carraghers book (Owens best mate) Owen was forced to go to Newcastle as Liverpool didn't want to pay double the selling price, he couldn't stay at Real cos he wasn't playing and wanted to play for England, and Newcastle were the only other team willing to pay that much for him.

Owen, given the choice would of done what Stevie did and stayed at Anfield his whole career, he now has very little hope of an England career, missed out on any real chance of sliverware, and stuck with a situation where he doesn't want to "use" Newcastle by only playing about 80ish(?) games then moving on, but he cannot play in the championship if he has any England ambitions.

Owen was my favourite player as a kid and at the time it really upset me that he left, he always had an obsession with spanish football and I respect him now for having the bottle to do it as he was never really loved at Anfield the way Robbie Fowler was, but in my view was a better player. But it didn't work out, and ever since his career has never been the same.

It also doesn't help the fact that he relied so much on pace and his hamstrings went completely and now has remodelled his game so will never be as effective, but still a clinical finisher. Plus looking at the yesterdays game on MOTD alone, he seems to be dropping back to midfield to often, which is Rooneys main problem now.

Shame the way his career has gone tho.

As for the rest of your squad, I think Butt aside, the rest CBA

On the villa game, Gary Neville looks a complete shadow of what he was 3-4 years ago, really being over run.

Come on Villa!!

When Newcastle played 4-3-3 last season with Owen just behind the strikers and dropping into midfield sometimes it really worked well considering he didn't have his pace to rely on.

And it's not just Butt and Owen, the likes of Beye, Bassong, Gutierrez can't be faulted for effort either. But considering that's 5 of a squad of what? 20 players who have played at least a few games this season, it really isn't good enough. Especially considering Butt is past it and Owen has really underperformed when fit in the second half of the season.
