Personally i don't think rank or win/loss should be introduced yet but you can play people for fun, till people get the hang of things and get to know the rules properly. "friendly" games should be brought in for a week or so just so people know the inside of the game. The rules what blutch said "your cue ball must hit the cushion at least 3 times before hitting the opponent's cue ball" now thats going to take some doing lol.

I thought that you can hit either ball first and the other one after atleast 3 cushion contacts.

you can apart from break off. which you must hit red first. then after that as long as 3 cushions are hit before you hit the 2nd ball and 'you havent hit the 1st ball twice' the shot should be a success.. Cushions can be hit before the first ball is hit also.

Really? Oh, that's great! I had misunderstood the rules, thinking that you have to hit red first, and the other ball after, I didn't know you can hit them in any order.
My mistake... Thanks for correcting me!

Great work Nick!

lol i just got a run of 25 by getting the easu shot off the break and res reset rest lol so easy

perfecting the break is pretty easy I agree... do they have to be set up that way (according to the rules)?
I did that for a while to see what run I could get lol... but didnt get as high as 25!

yeah its a flaw in the game i think.. as whoever breaks off is pretty much guranteed a success for first shot (i know where to hit it for my screen, and hit it usually 8/10 shots. which is a high enough percentage).
In the demonstration it says the person who gets closest to the cushion gets break.. so will this be implemented into the game?

Very negative comment, nick put so much effort into this site and funkypool to keep them appealing to people, and this game was asked for a bit ago and people do like the game.
It may not be as good as you can't play anyone yet but it is a very challenging game and will be very good to play against people.
Also just a thought for when it does become multiplayer is to make it a bit more "funky" and do a different scoring system.
5 points for a success (3 cushion success)
and for every extra cushion hit you get a bonus point.
So 5 cushions would get you 7 points. Something like this anyway?

Absolutely brilliant!
Billiards is by far my favourite real-life game so to be able to play it on here at last is a real treat.
I've never played this variation before, but i like the variation in strategy over "normal" billiards and it certainly seems to lend itself to a more challenging and quicker paced game.

Oh didn't realise you were a billiard player. What ruleset do you play, and do you know which one is the most popular?
07:25 Thu 28 Aug 08 (BST) [Link]
I would have thought the 'inoff' billiards is the most popular...

That would be brilliant I think.

I agree, I'd love to see that billiards implemented ^^ as i am finding this billiards a bit tough.
But we all asked for "billiards" and we got what we asked for so enough moaning.

Unfortunately i can't realy cal myself a player, as it's so rare to get a game locally now. It was popular here with the older players when i first started going to the snooker club.
Yep thats the one, i think they have the scoring system wrong there, as 3 points is usually for a cannon, but maybe thats just a local variation.
My experience has been that Pocket Billiards (also called English Billiards) is more common, but thats probably simply down to it using a snooker table rather than the custom Carom design.
Obviously i'd be delighted to see it added here, but probably a lot of work for minimal gain. Though it might help pull people to the original table if that were used.
