Nothing would change for lyle, meaning that it is NOT optional, as if it were things would change for lyle.
Am sorry Lyle, there are other u-18 members as well that will (or wont) be affected.
And I think he means that what we was saying was irrelevant to the topic, am not entirely sure.

we mean optional in the sense that anyone has the option to play snooker and not stake money on it. Please this matter is so trivial, of course U18s cant stake money on it, but for those who could it is optional

Well I mean not everybody has the option to play it.
once again definition of optional.
possible but not necessary; left to personal choice
It is not left to personal choice in some circumstances.
Now, over here, it has had mixed reviews people are split. Over on pool people are far more interested. Maybe that tells us there is a difference in opinion and a difference in prefference.
Pool has always been linked with wagers, pool sharks, hustling etc... snooker not so. This has been copied from a pool thread also, so I don't even no if this is planned for snooker. I would get rid of killer personally anyway, it is a pool game, on a snooker table, but that is an old debate, and maybe this is just an attempt to find a place for it.
Go for it, I will be interested to see how many members and the standard that it appeals to. It would require a new webname, site and server, 2 if both games have it. New staff new everything, it will be a brave gamble (ironically enough) and I at least respect Nick for taking the chance, even if I disagreee with it. As long as it isn't

I have had gambling adverts from day one and have full control over what adverts the website shows. You obviously are implicating that I am deluding myself but I have log files of exactly what adverts I have shown on this website since the start - just because you haven't seen them does not mean anything - adverts are targetted by country amongst other things. You obviously have strong emotions about this but please do not be rude.
Now as for the so called "irrelevance" of the maral debate, I don't see it as irrelevant at all. People should quite rightly be able to object on the grounds that gambling on a site where kids play is wrong. That is not a side issue, the point of this thread was to see if there would be interest, not for us all to say we are interested.
No one has said it is irrelevant - but a debate on whether playing for cash is morally objectable or not is out of this thread scope. It is relevant to say you object for this reason - I don't want this to descend into a generic discussion on gambling.

Yes we have had gambling adverts, nobody has said however that they agree with the gambling adverts, people have said that they are unfortunately there because funkysnooker has no say on what adverts are shown. Those who claim that funkysnooker has akways been linked to gambling are deluding themselves.

If i asked everybody on the site before this thread, do you believe that funkysnooker is linled with gambling, I would guarantee you that almost everybody would say No. I am not being rude, my mother brought me up to be pleasent, but to have my own beliefs, your perceiving me to be rude.
"I've personally not seen it as I don't handle the day to day running of adverts, and the adverts are targetted according to your country."
I perceived that as you not having the ability to pic and choose what adverts you have. As far as I was aware you set the ads to U or PG then it is the luck of the draw so to speak.
Remember the ad's are supplied by an outside agency so are not under the direct control of funkysnooker/pool.
You see, now i'm confused. Can you see why this is?

Mike, you make sure you get you're point across don't you? Haha!
Of course it's optional, the people who don't like it don't play, and the people who do then go for it.
You're bringing Lyle into this, Lyle is a 13 year old boy who has no right to gamble, thats not Nicks fault is it?
I think this is a step forward in taking funky to a different level, if this was to be successful just look what could be added:
A league of say 20 players £10 entry and it lasts a whole season, you play once a week at the same time every week, obviously the times and what day it's played will be broadcasted before you enter so there isn't any excuse for example "thats not fair i wasn't available" then who's faults that? Off topic a bit but that could be all added if successful, Mini tournaments on a daily basis, you name it.. it sounds so fun!
Also it's on a different server witch means it will have nothing to do with this site. Everybody wins

A few other points...
There's no plan to add gambling to funkysnooker. Gambling would be in a separate area of pool which wont mix free and cash users (accounts for this area would probably have to be re-registered).
Yes, the site would definitely have to take a percentage.

Maybe I misunderstood your comment. I assumed you were suggesting I was deluded about allowing gambling adverts since the beginning. If you weren't then I apologize.

I don't deal with adverts on a day to day basis but certainly can choose whether to pull certain adverts. I could veto gambling adverts should I want to. Spinner is right that the agency controls who sees which advert but the bottom line is me - I can turn off adverts across the site with 1 switch but the site would have to find another revenue stream.

Yup I do Ste, cant all be sheep can we?
And I was gambling at 13, £5 jackpot gambling machines, speant around 3-400 quid easily on fruit machines, no everything about them, their payout tendancies, when to leave alone and when it is going to pay out, I became so obsessed it was unbelievable. Thankfully that phase has moved on, and I came to my senses and learnt that all these cheat codes etc... were just basic myths.
Now I put a quid on with my mate that liverpool will beat everton, we are still waiting after 2 games to see .
As for it being only on pool that seems fair enough to me, as long as ste doesn't spend all his time over there
And I wasn't saying that at all Nick. I've seen the gambling ads and they don't bother me.

Haha, sooo you do have a bit of blue in you after all (wanting ste_efc
A few off topic questions, would the rules change in terms of swearing etc...? After all it would be a 18+ website.
Would there be a different name instead of funkysnooker/pool?
Mike, you posting nerd

Am afraid "this" meant the cash section, not snooker.

Ahhh, now thats a bit unfair isn't it? Pool gets to play for money and a bit of fun whilst snooker gets left in the shade?

Well moderators would still have to have something to do wouldn't they? It is a tough one, but people coming from the gambling game if they are allowed a bit more "freedom of speach" () will have to remember to adapt when coming back to funkypool/snooker.
What would it be called, i'm assuming the funky will stay in place and it is still pool but it can't be called funkypool.... hmmmmm funkypoolsharks

Selfish Mike!
Nick, you has implemented a lot of things over on pool then soon afterwards it's made it's way to snooker, would that be the case? Or have you got no plans whatsoever to introduce it to here?

That's the point though, I'd really love to play for a bit of money, but I know I can't and everyone knows that I'm underage, so I couldn't even attempt it and to be honest, this would just leave me and others feeling left out.
(Sorry if this has already been discussed)
