HaaaaaaaaaH!, Chunky monkey there already has a better career ahead of him than any liverpool centre half, and obviously hes already better than any liverpool centre half

Well... they are playing catch up on him already...

2011 Copa America winner

2011 Copa America Young Player of the Tournament

2010/11, 2008/09 Uruguayan Championship winner

2010/11 Uruguayan Championship Player of the Season

2010/11, 2009/10 Uruguayan Championship Defender of the Season

2008/09 Uruguayan Championship Revelation of the Season

Yeah, Phil Jones is actually terrible now that i think about him not having any Uruguayan medals under his belt :-/.

Good one... as of now Coates has won more. A Copa and 2 league titles under his belt already. You can only win what you enter. Phil Jones at this stage has nada, a group stage exit in an U21 tournie, with his defensive partner Smalling.

Dezza, am not embarassed by the Carroll transfer, just wondering why we didn't look elsewhere, (same with Hendo)but hey we were desperate, we had no striker thanks to Chelsea signing Torres on deadline day.

I am however over the moon about the Enrique and Coates (Co-ah-tes) transfers (if it does go through, City are still sniffing about.)

Still though, I aint going to lie about Liverpool, we are still far from where we need to be, which as ever is first! (second is nowhere)

You're right you can only win what you enter, as for Jones hes only signed for the Champions of England, before he was playing for blackburn and lets be fair whats he going to win with them?

Coates has been playing with one of the best teams in Uruguay and as of late one of the best nations in the world... Jones hasn't simple as.

Smalling, well he doesn't need building up hes class already and versatile which hes proved by his performances right back this season, which leaves a spot for Johnny Evans who btw is also class, so really when it comes to defending, defenders or anything of the kind theres not many teams that can hold a candle to Man United really, specially not liverpool

Jones, Smalling, Evans all 3 are very good back up defenders as of right now, what you need is Vidic and Ferdinand back fit, then your back line looks very good. Could also do with a top quality right back. Have Philipp Degan if you like?

-------
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed the club are on the brink of signing Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool.

The Italian midfielder's agent declared earlier on Wednesday that he was hopeful a deal could be struck quickly and reports in Italy suggest terms have now been agreed between all parties.

The transfer is not official yet as Aquilani still needs to fly to Milan to undergo a medical and put pen to paper, which could happen in the next 24 hours.

But Galliani has been unable to contain his excitement at the news and has declared that Milan will not look to sign anybody else.

"We've signed a player with great quality," said Galliani. "He's the right man for Milan.

"Our transfer market campaign has now come to a close."

It is understood that Aquilani will join Milan on an initial loan deal and a permanent move will be triggered if he makes at least 25 appearances this season.

Good back ups for now..

Jones no doubt will be Englands future cb along with Smalling imo, but maybe for United Smalling will be a rb with the way hes playing.

Badly probably. What a talent that fella was till he went Chelsea. Now all he does in run very fast into players.

Got a feeling he will go QPR with Barton and Parker.

Also have a feeling Stoke might sign a freakishly big/tall striker.

Liverpool are weighing up a move to bring Craig Bellamy back to Anfield, but only if Manchester City are willing to let him go on a free transfer.

:\ Chill out Nicko.

---

Craig Bellamy has taken a step closer to making a dramatic return to Liverpool after Manchester City agreed to let him leave for nothing.

City are prepared to negotiate a settlement with Bellamy, covering the remaining 10 months of his £95,000-a-week contract, to get him off their wage bill.

This will clear the way for the Wales striker to return to Anfield on a free transfer, four years after he was sold following a fall-out with manager Rafa Benitez.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is interested in signing Bellamy, but is not prepared to pay a fee for the much-travelled striker, who was dubbed the 'Nutter with the Putter' after allegedly hitting team-mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a row.

He was sold because he was a psycho scumbag and he as you said hit JAR with a golf club, why would you wan't someone like that in your team?

Also don't know if many people noticed or remember, the game after that match Bellamy scored, and what was his celebration? Tee-ing off tbh i thought it was funny:L
