LIVERPOOL FC have seen off a last-ditch attempt by Atletico Madrid to land Sebastian Coates.

The Spanish outfit tried to hijack the Nacional centre-back's proposed £7million move to LFC by submitting an offer of around £8million.

However, Coates informed his Uruguayan club he had no interest in speaking to Atletico as his heart was set on signing for the Reds.

Despite the size of Atletico's offer, Nacional have agreed to respect the defender's wishes and he underwent a medical in Liverpool yesterday.

That was kind of Nacional but a little stupid.

All you would have to do is look at the stats, and no other holding midfielder comes close to Lucas.

For anyone like M_wood who doesnt understand statistics, they haven't "Won more tackles than Lucas"... They have won a higher % of their tackles than Lucas.
