By the way I think there is one player in England better than Lucas at the holding midfield role, but he is in the championship (for now)
Wood half of them players you mention at not defensive midfielders, and your final comment is very funny, and I see it has already been picked up on. It seems it is you who doesn't understand the statistics. If I were you I'd stick to goals and assists, until you learn more about football

Why do we ignore players like A.Young, we could have easily signed him before United were even remotely interested. & got him for a lot less than £28m!!
He won't replace Ashley, but he will replaced Malouda. Malouda can play right midfield no problem but Juventus have supposidly bid £17m.
Malouda is a good player and quality to have on in the squad for sure but £17m seems a good deal for both teams. Malouda when he plays well and when playing for France is top quality. Its just not what Chelsea need right now.
Saying this, I dont think we need Pereira either. Apart from physical strenght I dont see any difference from Pereira and Zhrikov. They play exactly the same role and are no better than eachother.
We sold Yuri for between £4 - 14Million, (some reports claim £4m some claim £14m, very bizzare) So this is at least double and could be up to 6x more money for the same player.
Age isnt really a factor, Yuri is 28 and Alvaro is 25. Not a major difference in football terms.
If its not Roman buying flops for his personal preference...
Its Andre buying players for his!
We need a manager, not a clown/puppet.
Maybe some better scouts because lets face it, Torres, Shevchenko, Veron, Crespo... all these players were common sense at the time. Hardly needed a scout to say they were good players.
Really ticks me off, if I can spot Young, Aguero and Nasri would of been good buys, then why cant chelsea?

Could be worse Arsenal are trying to sign Andre Lima for £6.2M. Now that fella is less than useless at defending.
Liverpool have also rejected a bid from Chelsk for Raul Meireles, bid of £8M plus Yossi. Apparently not going to re bid, let's see though, you may start getting desperate towards deadline day.
Anyway... back to Lucas...

Would you be able to perform week in week out after your brother being kidnapped and held for 4 months and then murdered? I doubt anyone would, and maybe this move is good for him.

Owen Hargreaves has had a Medical at Manchester City with a view to a deal, with Yaya Toure being in the African Cup during the season... could be a very interesting signing this, as West Brom were heavily linked with the player

Bennayoun himself has ruled out a move to Lille.... and because of this, the player Liverfool fans were so happy to get last season and turned out to be a flop Joe Cole, is in talk with Lille now....

Arsenal have today ended their interest in Gary Cahill. On Friday an Arsenal representative met up with 3 clubs to discuss deals, Gary Cahill at Bolton, Chris Samba at Blackburn and Jags at Everton, but the British clubs all overpriced the players, hence Arsenal turning their attention to the German Mertesacker
