Apparently another premier league club has been taken over by a middle east group and they will be announced in the next few days.

It can't be Chelsea, United, Arsenal, City, Pompey (cos they said it was not them ) Sunderland.

Guess it wouldn't be Stoke, Hull, Birmingham, Burnley.

But then again, I doubt its Liverpool either, and thats if the reports are even true.

The MD will finalise deals (if any). More to do with business side of things i presume.

A 60% sheikh takeover of a high profile club, has been reported.

Lot of speculation around liverpool, but i doubt it would be us. Gillett has 50% and hicks has 50% so either they sell 30% each or hicks sells all his and gillett sells 10% to give them priority, Cant see it being us.

Portsmouth's England defender Glen Johnson has agreed to join Liverpool in a £17.5m move.

Chelsea and Manchester City were also interested but it is thought Anfield was his preferred destination.

Johnson had limited first-team chances at Chelsea in his spell there, but established himself in the England team after his move to Portsmouth in 2007.

It is understood Pompey still owe Liverpool £7m from the deal that saw them buy Peter Crouch last summer.

A Liverpool statement said: "We have reached an agreement with Portsmouth and Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield."

Johnson will be Liverpool's first signing this summer and as the club are operating under financial restrictions, boss Rafael Benitez is likely to sell Andrea Dossena to help fund the deal.

Portsmouth paid £4m for 24-year-old right-back Johnson, who emerged as Benitez's prime target after having an outstanding season at Fratton Park last season.

Spanish defender Alvaro Arbeloa could also be sacrificed to raise cash towards the Johnson deal, with Real Madrid being linked with an £8m move.

Johnson signed a new four-year deal at Portsmouth in January, but club officials accepted they could not stand in his way if he was offered the opportunity to move to a club playing in the Champions League.

I think thats a good buy.

We need a good attacking right back, the money is not decided by Rafa, that is still Parry's job...

rite fair enough i like him and think he is better than arbeloa.however arbeloa was good enough and wasnt near our stand out weak link.
left back and a winger were much higher in the prioritys.specially at that money.
Though, i think he is great and will do well..i just hope we have money for what we really need.....

Yeah, but 17 million could of baught me a ferrari, A mansion and a nice holiday somewhere. and then the 16million change would pay for 16% of newcastle

He did score a pretty nice goal though. I do like him, just think we paid over the odds.

Nahhhhh left back with Aurelio and Insua are solid enough - not top 4 class, but solid.

Centre backs are perfectly fine. So thats the defense sorted.

Midfield, we are ok in the middle as things stand... so we got to keep em!!!!! or replace them well enough. Cover instead of Lucas would be appreciated.

Kuyt on the right is fine cos of his hard work, left wing, Riera was poor 2nd half of season. Babbel must leave. Bennayoun is brilliant cover player. So I think we need a left winger.

Up top, gerrard and torres are perfect combination, but we struggled to get them on the pitch at the same time as each other. Vorinin... :S - crap and N'gog inexperienced so we need cover there.

Soooo maybe a left back, ***left winger and a cover striker and we're done for the summer spends.

Main thing is to keep hold of the centre mids!!!

Liverpool may need to treble Javier Mascherano's wages to keep the midfielder at the club after signing defender Glen Johnson from Portsmouth. Mascherano is believed to be unhappy because he is paid less than most of his team-mates.
