Im really confused. Man Utd have lost two world class players in Ronaldo and Tevez and they choose to buy a player from Wigan who hasnt proved himself at the top level of champions league football and Owen, a player who is clearly past his best and is available on a free transfer? Stoke and Hull were among the clubs interested in him..that alone should tell Fergie he's not even good enough to warm the bench.

In four years at Newcastle, Michael Owen started 65 games and scored 30 goals. He is reported to have cost the relegated club an eye-watering £41m in fees and wages.

Can't stand Owen, not for the fact he didn't want to sign a new contract, but the lack of passion he showed for a club that gave him the line he needed to get back into English football. I even got a Newcastle top with Owen on the back the afternoon we signed him, before he passed his medical, went to his welcoming and everything, and that's how he repays everyone.

Happy to see the back of him, just not happy he cost so much.

I disagree. He was a liverpool great. But, after being a world superstar and getting relegated and finding yourself with (no offence) teams like stoke and hull wanting you. And then a team like manchester united come in for you. You would go to the big club. Not a traitor In my eyes..

I think for him its the best thing that could of happened to him. At the end of the day fergie has got himself a little bargain. Free transfer his wages aren't going to be extreme. I read 20k a week with performance bonus's.

He may be past it and with fergie having 80 million sitting there. It is obvious that he wont be uniteds main signing this season.

He was my Idol, but The Kop never took to him the way they did with Fowler and Gerrard for instance because they suspected he wasn't "one of us" sort of thing. I guess this proves them correct.

Seeing him in a Utd shirt will make me physically sick, Tevez said he couldn't play for Liverpool cos of emotional attachment to Utd (who treated him badly!!) and hes from Argentina, Owen, English, Liverpool from the beginning since the age of about 9 (up sticks and left us!!), deciding to go to Utd, pretty much sums the bloke up.

having said that, still, rather them sign Owen than someone capable of lasting 90 mins.
