What are peoples thoughts on a singles event throughout the season? (or is it just too much)
Entries would most likely have to be capped per clan, and entrants must proove they can play their games. (must have completed their pre-season games - or atleast show the default is in no way their doing)
Matches would be cup format, fairest format for knockout comp i think.
feedback from League Runners/default staff and players wanted.

Singles event is a great idea BUT excluding people (limiting numbers of players) will only upset those involved, and runs the risk of turning it into the World Snooker Tour event going on in terms of reliable, good quality players. Much like the existing cup, having more people and variety of standards of players would make it a much better competition. Obviously strict time limits would be needed so not to delay it.
If it were made somehow into the cup format so 5 frames, winner progresses. It could be quick, easy and encourage all round play. Great idea mooney.

If everyone from each clan is entered thats approx 100 players..which could hand the defaults team with a stack of defaults, and yes. strict time limits would be needed as there would be a fair few rounds involved.
However hopefully by making clear that if you want to play the singles you must proove reliability (best way i can think is to play your pre-season game) this should hopefully stop a ton of defaults.

I would suggest that asking to play in the tournament proves your enthusiasm as long as it is strongly shown that it NEEDS games to be played quickly! Worth a try I'd think otherwise it eliminates a large number of members who have equal right to be a part of it or at least prove they deserve to be part of it.

sorry had other things to deal with.
if we did have knockout i would have to set deadlines (1 or 2 weeks for each round) but with individual league you play opponents from start of league to end

How about all clan league registered players are entered.
16 groups of 7, 1 member from each clan selected randomly.
Everyone plays all players in their group (6 matches).
Matches are 1 frame on each table (as in cup).
1 point for each frame won.
If a player doesnt want to enter they are removed from that group and the remaining 6 play each other.
After all group matches are complete, go to knockout with, for example:
winner 1 v runner-up 2
winner 2 v runner-up 1
etc etc
That gives 16 matches, so winners pair off for 8 matches, then again for QF, SF and Final.
Possible additions:
1. QF, SF and Final longer as players will have shown they get games played.
2. 15 groups are selected randomly + captain's group.
3. Bonus point for 5-0 win.
Would take some organising though.
Any thoughts?

im not sure but if everything goes to plan then i think a normal individual league will do, if not then maybe next season

mooney- were you thinking of a straight knockout competition? Doesn't sound like a terrible idea to be honest, we would have to deal with a bunch of defaults though. On the other hand, defaults would be much easier, since we don't need an exact score, just a winner. I certainly like this option very much.
I think adam's idea would need some more organization. How do we deal with groups where a bunch of games haven't been completed?
In terms of organization, I think a straight knockout, even if it has loads of people, would be easier. After the second round, there would be few defaults left. If we get between 32-64 entrants, we would need 5 rounds, so about 9 days per round would be ok. If people do like this idea, I say get signups started as soon as possible. Then start tourney when the league starts. I'll have a lot more time starting July 16th, so I could run most of it starting then.

knockout seems best option aslong as there isnt too many defaults<<i dont fancy doing defaults for say 20 games lol

agreed, but would only be for the early rounds anyway. I think they will be very quick indeed- only need win/loss, not exact score. No comments needed on them either. Just name the palyer who goes through.
Dgen could name them all in one thread. Then everyoen could post:
1) akshkal
2) jdhguahgu
etc...

rule check Seb:
is this added, if not please add it...
If a player is in a clan not involved in clan league they may join a new clan for the league only (1 month rule applies if season has started) while still being in the clan not involved in the clan league.

another thing up for discussion...
should we have criteria before making a clan (i.e 1 season experience), i have been 50-50 about this idea for a while, since we get a lot of clans what don't last but the argument with that is they wouldn't make it through to the league anyway.
let me know your thoughts.

01:28 Sun 3 Jul 11 (BST) [Link] I'll phrase it slightly differently to close any loopholes i can think of. Will add it when I'm back.
For now, the above rule counts, even though it is not updated yet!
Players in clans that are not in the league may join a clan that is in the league. Once the season has started, players must have an account older than 1 month to be eligible to play.
