How can he take dawson over Shawcross?

Ok i'm biased as i'm a stokie but he is an amazing defender and one of the best English defenders in the premier league!

Shawcross had a poor mid season I think, he faded with the pressure of expectency. He always has an error or red card in him I think, think Jagielka and even Campbell are ahead of him in the pecking order, maybe in 4 years time he has a shout.

I have 10£ on Argentina and 10£ on France.

These two teams will suprise a few I think.

By the way check the stadium where Argentina lost 6-1 to Bolivia, you might find out why.

italy haven't got a hope in hell of winning the world cup

england
brazil
holland
argentina
spain

they are teams who have a good chance

germany, italy and france have poor (possibly aging) squads compared to the others and injuries

age can mean experience but i don't think these teams will do well

yes i know england have one of the oldest quads at the tournament but they have a much better chance of winning

Don't think a European nation has won the World Cup outside of Europe.

Still tipping Argentina.

Basically yeah. No European Nation has won the World Cup when it has been hosted outside Europe.

Carragher is more than capable to fill in, but so is King so there's hardly a panic. And besides Gerrard will be captain now!

Lmao, I need to change my pants I just wet myself. What a line!

Hardly a panic, besides Gerrard is captain. <

So classic, no need to panic lads, Stevie G will steer us right

Leadly is alright, but seriously...he isnt a champions league player.

I wouldnt put him in the top 100 centre backs off the top of my head. Really think he is one of the most over-rated english players at current.

Dawson? Carragher? Leadly?

Is this all England has to offer as third choice center back. What a load of dribble.

With Rio out, England have to completely alter their formation.

Rio and John, a drug test banned player and an 'adulterer' ironically enough, were a trusted duo. Rio adds that bit of pace that Terry lacks and Terry adds that great spirit of heart on sleeve that rio lacks.

But now with King and Terry, both slow...i just associate the word clumsey with King like clamamity with james but now there definately needs to be a defensive midfielder present.

Seriously cant have Messi/Villa/Torres/Fabiano running at 2 slow defenders....if thats the case...there will be alot of red cards lol.

So Rio being out is such a big blow. Gerrard might have to play a Xavi role. barry isnt good enough to be in the first 11 same with hargreaves and carrick.

Not good news.

I also think Holland are serverly over-rated aswell.

Easily exposeable at the back they just have a very pacey attack.

Plus i dont rate Van persie...the ajority of his goals for arsenal come off his shin or its a misskick or a toepunt that he claims is "outside of my boot" lol.

France doesn't really have an ageing squad... just a poor one by recent standards!

Henry scraped into the 23 by arguing with Domenech.
Benzema and Makalele (both obvious candidates) were simply overlooked....

And any country that fields a near full strength team and still manages to lose to China's B team doesn't really stand a chance!!

I'll let others comment on the Italians and Germans
