First of all I actually think Webb had a spot on game, the decision of Puyol was awkward because he allowed Robben to play on but I think Puyol should of been punished still you are right. But are you forgetting De Jong and Van bommel? If Puyol "should" of been sent off then the other 2 players is a no brainer so it would of been 9 v 11 for the whole of the 2nd half.

Also I saw the replies of the Spain goal and Inniesta isnt offside for the first or second pass and I dont think Elia was fouled during the build up, he tried to gap and the Spain defenders shut him out by closing the door which I personally dont deem a foul.

So whilst I understand you are gutted for losing but I do think it was the right result and decisions were fair.

Webb didn't spot the deflection off Holland's free kick just before Iniesta's goal though....

i watched the game.thought holland did some awful tackles especially van bommel , de jong(what a tackle he did on poor alonso was like a kung kick in the stomach ) and heitenga
also holland had chances with robben but he missed both . were great chances aswell

overall i think spain tryed to play football and holland didnt ,to much fouling by holland ruined the game . they should of tryed play football they had the players

Yeah James but the ref and linesmen missed Lampards shot crossing the line....mistakes happen so...wasnt like a major decision either, was just a corner not given, happens all the time in football.

Rumours afterwards were that Holland had intentions to play Spain like Inter Milan did to Barcelona. Defending deep back; hard in one vs one (dont know the english word for "duel") and perform fast counter attacks...which succeeded only once with Robben missing by few cm's.

This was by far not the technical football and excellent positional play from the dutch "footballschool".....

Tbh, Holland played exactly right. You can't plan a game to win, you can only plan to create the chances to win, whilst limiting the opposition.

You can either choose to try to outplay Spain, or you can choose to stop them.

I would say that the game went to plan for Holland, but they couldn't get the goal they wanted at the other end.

The game very nearly went to pens, which Holland would have taken no doubt.

A good win for football, but still, Holland did the right thing. Once they knew it was Howard Webb, then they could get away with more than usual, they exploited that, fair play. Like so many teams who have played Spain they nearly stopped them, but not quite.
