Exactly, yeah you shouldn't let it get to you, but they shouldn't do it in the first place.

theres absolutely no reason to say gg during a game. if it's early in the frame, then they cant concede yet anyway, so it doesnt matter.
but if we are in the critical stage of a frame, you shouldnt really say anything at all, much less "gg"

Also, what other reason is there to say "gg" during a game?
...
I think this answers your question
And I agree, it is usually does come down to bad sportsmanship, as I hinted at in my post, but it isn't necessarily so .

This is a really strange topic, which crops up now and then when people have similar experiences.
I don;t know how or where it came from, but as you can see here there are quite a few members who have come to associate "gg" with the end of a frame, and I also see "wp" getting the same kind of odd stigma.
As eemad has already said, you have to remember what it means. "gg" is a perfectly acceptable thing to say after, or during, a good rally or tactical battle. After all it might go downhill from there into a total mess!
Likewise, I will often say "wp" after someone makes a good safety escape or has a good break.
So, great advice above - whatever you personally want to associate with the abbreviations, remember everyone isn't the same and take nothing for granted other than what they mean.

I already replied to that post... so not really.
Think spinner answered it very well
Nah he didn't. The way I understand "gg" is as meaning that was a good game. So it doesn't make sense (to me at least) to say "gg" during a frame as you obviously don't know if it will be a good game in it's entirety.

were you responding to me dom?
i meant that i find it disrespectful to talk into a crucial shot (unless conversation has been going on the whole time). it puts people off.
but saying "gg" is worse than something random, because it's commonly known as something said after the frame (here and on other sites, for example poker). it's usually used to concede a frame (similar to saying "i'll flag").

Ah mate, I know that, but some people are just like that, If they know they've lost or something they'll throw their dummy out the pram and start abusing you for no apparent reason, or say 'gg' to but you off. I know some people don't get put off by this, and some do, but hey, there is nothing anybody can do, so, just try not to read messages that come up and focus on the pot...or the snooker.

yeah i completely agree. i think most people have agreed that you cant let it affect you and have to continue to play to win. i think the main discussion is about whether it's ok to say "gg" and then continue playing.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to get anything changed, just the fact that people do it and its un-sporting annoys me and thought this was the thread to voice it on.
Im speaking well for a few jars.

personally, i never say gg before i'm willing to flag. i thought this was how it was generally. I wasn't put off, i just assumed he would flag and we could save some time
Definitely agree with that - I will never say 'gg' until the game is either well and truly out of reach, or the black has gone in.
But in your case, I would have made sure it had touched a red, or the colour you were going for or whatever.
Agree with this. The 'gg' comment really grinds my gears, espicially before the frame has been decided pointswise. But yeah I'd make sure if you are gonna miss becuase you think he will flag, Don't Foul!
Although ya don't get this problem if you play friends.

i have said gg before by mistake when an oppponent was clearing up coz i thought i needed snookers. when he missed i just potted the white as i felt i hasd influenced his shot.
What i'm getting at is that there are different types of players on here, some who show respect and others that are slightly different. All you can do is make a note of whos who and play the good guys!!!!

it shows good sportsmanship, i actually dislike it when people don't say gl in a tournament, don't mind them not saying gg as long as they say gl.
