The lad asked if it was worth it or not and Dec gave his opinion. It's not a "dig", it's just his answer to the question... and I agree with him. Soon as I bought it I thought... is that it? It made next to no difference.
To be honest I didn't buy it to give Nick some money or to directly support the site. I just thought it might make a difference to the table, but it didn't. So yeah, I don't think it's worth it.

I'm looking into adding some extra navigation controls and removing adverts across all pages:
http://www.funkysnooker.com/thread/7460/premium-accounts-advert-free-across-all-pages
As I have said before, I don't wish to have exclude normal members from core elements, so many upgrades originally intended for premium members have been given to all users:

Premium Membership is completely worth it.
This has been my snooker site for about 2 years now. Supporting it with just £10 a year is probably the least I can do. £10 is an hour's work (in my case), so giving that to Nick, and having a YEAR of no adverts (because they make me crazy ) is so awesome
I do agree with the guy who said to add little privileges for premium members. It does not have to be big changes, but some stuff that would turn your head around and go "OK, I will pay for this." Ideas are:
- More forum posts per min/hour/day
- Premium sub-forum (maybe to update us on PREMIUM changes, or just for premium users to have some more "stuff")
- Premium Tournaments (do not show on stats, just for fun)
I dunno, these ideas might be crap, but you get the idea

There is a Premium Forum but it is only really for Premium issues etc. rather than a general discussion thread.(sort of a Game Queries specific to Premium)

As understandable as that is, isn't the whole idea of being a Premium Member to gain things non Premium members don't have? If I pay £10 I want to receive a little more than no ads.
Just silly stuff would even be enough, customizable options, cues/clothes/etc. Just a starting point.
If I'm putting money in I'd like to receive something in return, not just 'no ads'. So until then, if your problems with ads are minimal it's really not worth the £10.

Yeh I appreciate your response Nick but to say you don't wish to exclude normal members kind of defeats the whole purpose in having premium membership.
Obviously you don't need to go overboard and add a whole load of new privileges but just simple things like maybe a gold username, more posting abilites, etc... would really motivate people into buying membership.
And the more people buy membership, the more money you will have to work on the site. It seems like a really simple solution into;
A. Boosting membership sales, and
B. Giving that little bit of extra glamor to being a premium member.

This is Nick's post from a thread he made a few days ago that seems to fly under the radar.
He mentions here some possible extras that could be added for premium members. To be honest I have to agree with Fernando & jack_pot, there needs to be a bigger incentive to buy premium other than add free game play. Even superficial things just to make it worth it, without compromising on the core elements which is part of the attraction to the game that normal users get as much as premium users.
In fact at the moment it is disappointing that the premium members dont get the link on the side to this thread and that regular members do.

I am considering whether funkypool and funkysnooker should be completely advert free for all premium members. (This was discussed recently at http://www.funkypool.com/thread/17004/premium-member-ad-free-forum/1 with the result being the removal of all animated adverts from web pages.)
I'd like to know from premium members whether they would greatly prefer this or are ambivalent about this. Also what would they like to be shown instead of adverts, for instance maybe quick links to certain other pages, or your stats?
I'd also like to know from members whether removal of all adverts will influence their decision process in purchasing premium.

I don't think anybody needs a bigger incentive I think premium is what it is. I buy it for the sole fact to help out funkysnooker Idont come on here as regularly as I used to but I still would like to think Nick will be keeping the site up for a long time to come, because even after the domains he has still got to keep server space and he is always making sure the sites running on the best possible hardware so £10 to make sure snooker is here to stay is defiantly worth every penny
It would be nice to see alot of new changes to the site, with different fonts in chat, different names, different cues and it will definatly add incentive and people do want value for money
I agree with what junster said it's 1 hour work and I don't mind sacrificing that

You may buy it to help funkysnooker, which is fantastic, but there are members who perhaps are not as interested in just giving money to help the site without having some sort of recognition for it. Nick needs to target all members into buying premium membership in my opinion, and the way to do this, is to make membership look more attractive. The more members that buy premium membership = the more money Nick has to spend on the site.

This isnt all about you Greatest, he has other things that are much bigger than creating a Regular table for killer, so just hush and bear with it.

Im just stating that Nick has much more important updates than a silly table that nobody hardly wants anyway, yet nearly all of the site want Power Snooker.
You do the math?
