I wish people would stop leaving after the first frame in power snooker
11:22 Fri 12 Nov 10 (GMT) [Link]
OK, power snooker patch has been applied with the following changes:
Fix, 100 score wasn't counting as century.
Fix, black ball respotted multiple times.
Fix, alternate break logic not always working.
Concede flag is available now, shown when you're 200 points behind. This may be refined in time.
I didn't have time to add the 150 pluses or the practice play, but these are still on my list.
EDIT: For conceding the way I see it, if an opponent wishes to concede game (be it playing with friends all the way to playing in a professional competition) this is fine, so long as their opponent isn't currently in a decent break. With a 2 way concede someone may opt to ignore it and play on when the opponent has conceded. In real life this would never happen as it's bad sportsmanship. (Of course these scenarios change if total points have a meaning.)

200 points is barely anything! You can be 200 points behind within about 3 minutes of the game... it seems ridiculous that you could be allowed to concede so early in the game. Just think how many breaks you could be missing out on. You could at least have it so that you need to be 200 points behind with only a few minutes left of the game... like 3 or 4 minutes.
At least with having to leave to end the game early there was a bit of an incentive not to because of the abandoned stat and still loads of people were leaving early. But now people are just gonna be conceding like it's going out of fashion!

Should only be able to concede with about 3 minutes left at most.

noticed power snooker tournaments is weekly, anyone know why this is?

This is upto the conceding party, if they use it when they still have a chance this benefits the opponent. If they didn't have a chance, and have gracefully conceded, I don't see any reason they should be locked in.
I have absolutely no problem with this - there's no bad sportsmanship involved in conceding a game, be it any sport and at any level.
I haven't looked into the schedule yet. A weekly will remain in the system for me to modify the schedule later.

It only benefits the opponent in terms of a win, which isn't the issue I was raising. I was on about the opportunity for breaks being lost. And to be honest, I don't see any reason why the person behind should be able to choose when to end the game. It's not a case of being "locked in"... they're free to leave and earn an abandoned stat. And if the player that's ahead wants to continue.... then why shouldn't they be given every opportunity to?
Also... being only 200 points behind, you've got a chance up until the last few minutes, which is why I suggested only being allowed to concede nearer the end of the 15 minutes.
Yes there is.

I have to agree that the 200 points is way too low. I do think it should actually be 5 min before the end of the game before you can concede.
17:08 Fri 12 Nov 10 (GMT) [Link]
No keep it the same, i think you should be able to leave any game of this length when you think you are to far behind to catch your oppoment up and if this is after the first 3 minutes of play then be it...
Why should I wait around for 10 minutes when I could be in my second game ready to play at this point just so you can havea extra break tbh I dont care if you get a cent or not I just want to be able play and watching you pot isnt me playing
Nice idea nick I love it =D

This is exactly why I disagree with it!!
As you've pretty much said... if you can't be bothered any more, you'll just concede. You just want to get out of there and onto your next game if you're not doing very well in the current one. But why should the person in front be punished because you frankly can't be bothered to continue?
As you said: you don't care if they miss out on a cent, you don't want to watch them, you just want to play.... and being able to concede early in the game fits perfectly with your ideals... sounds very sportsmanlike :)

i dont, people will still leave no matter what which sucks.
ive had people leave when...
A) Before Breakoff on 0-0
B) As i am taking my Shot
C) On for a Century
All annoying and i would not leave the game early because
A) I Respect my Opponent enough to let them finish
B) Its Rude
C) Its VERY unsporting.

It's not unsporting if it's an option and how do you no you will even make a cent.... Your all going on about cents this and that theres no guarantee you will even make 1 so stop going on about that you just hope you will
And how will you be punished you get the game win stat you get whatever brake you made so far and when only 3/4 people dont want it your obviously the minority you need to remember theres alot more average players than great so give something to us
And its here not it doesnt matter how much you moan it will most proberbly be here to stay so leave it at that

im surprised about this decision. we just had an update that was put in because entering a tourney "makes a commitment to finish the tourney". at the same time, we're now saying that clicking yes to a 15 minute game is not a commitment to finish that game....
not sure if i can agree with this

By joining a game you are making a commitment to play it. We all know it's 15 minutes so you should be willing to commit to that 15 minutes. Not just 5!

you dont hear professionals on power snooker say 3 minutes in "i Concede" or "im leaving" so why should we have it here?
It is unsporting si and very annoying, a win stat doesnt do it in my opinion, some of us ONLY care about breaks NOT wins.
fair play it doesnt annoy you but it annoys most people who has posted so far, come on if you was on 99 and someone left as you took red which was over pocket and the cursor went in another direction you wouldnt tell me you would be ok with it.
you would be annoyed as you SHOULD have made a cent.
Oh and 90% of players ive played today has left within the 1st 2 minutes.

I was on for a 107 in a tourny and somebody left on 94 but I didnt make a thread kicking off I just took it on the chin and waited lol
End of day in any game in the world you can choose not to play it's happened on a football pitch its happened in snooker and i'm sure it's happened elsewhere aswell
End of day I dont leave game look at my abandoned games I always stay untill the end of every match unless my net goes, I just like the option you can leave if it gets to much, if i'm 200 behind I will give it a crack untill I cant physically win then I will use the concede button I just like the fact somebody on rank 650 can be 200 behind and leave will stop you playing all of the little ranks and play people at the same skill level as yourselfs
The only people who have a problem with this are the people who can possibly hit 2/3 cents a match like i said the minority
