Over the past few months the server has been causing connection problems for everyone and to my knowledge nothing is being done about it by the staff of the website.

If this was my website I would be embarrassed by the server problems and would have hoped the situation could have been resolved in these months since the first problem even if it causes prolonged downtime whilst the server issue would be fixed.

I'm sure i'm not aware of all the facts as to why everyone keeps on getting disconnected but they would be nice to know, I don't know how many others are frustrated by this problem but i'm sure that it's more than just myself

This problem is very annoying, i was just in arcade tournament and in the semi finals my opponent got booted from the room and in the final i came up against a good player and he was winning 1-0 and then he got booted.

I know there is no way the can take the tournapoints back from me but i do feel like i just been handed a tournament win when the other player deserved it.

I feel sorry most for spirit2010, he was in final of regular tournament and he got booted then it happened to him again in the semis of arcade!

So you're saying you'd rather the site be down for a long time rather than experiencing a few problems now and then?

that's pretty silly, remember you're using a free site, so you're not paying for a perfect service.
I'm sure Nick is doing all he can to resolve the problem.

Yes, I would rather the site be down for a week or two.. however long it takes so that there would be no more connection problems. I believe that a few weeks without this site running and then better service is better than another year (or however long) of these connection problems.

Problem is, there is no way that good service can be guaranteed after a change. Nick has mentioned that these problems are with the host. If he changes host, there is no guarantee that the new one is better!

From the thread about server problems during tournaments

nick said:
Apologies for the downtime. Here is the response from the hosts.

... During this growth, we have been working on a lot of projects to increase quality of service - new data-center section, conditioning, increasing power supply systems, migrating from 1G to 10G traffic rate. These projects have caused some disturbance for a portion of clients. We are very sorry for this inconvenience.

Our data center staff will be finished with installing and fine-tuning this new data-center section in February 2011.

Considering I don't have time to perform a host transfer over the next week or so (which will take me a few days but also cause a few hours downtime) we will have to stick with the current hosts and hope that the quality does indeed improve.

Chase- I do understand the frustration, it affects all of us.
I hope the above is something to look forward to. We normally (apart from at the moment) do get a good service from Funky

Tinie - I agree it can be very frustrating, obviously more so if in a tourny, but it still is in a normal game. Hopefully things will get better soon.

Continued in next post.....

Edit: To tidy things up a bit

Potato - Premium Membership is only to get rid of adverts and have a slightly bigger table - There are no guarantees for any member (although there has been extensions of Premium in the past for down-time) If that is the issue it should be discussed in premium forums - so I don't think it is.

Whocares, quite correctly says if you change how do you know the next host is any better ?

As I said before we have had periods of 5,6,7 days without Funky and everyone was on the "Unofficial" Funky FB saying
"omg", "ffs" what's happening ? Is it back up ? This is crazy !
and other such things.

Which in my humble opinion only goes to show while pleasing one group you upset another.

I would like to point out that this is not trying to "have a go at" anyone on the thread, it is my contribution
The reason I put names by comments is only so I remember to comment on all the points I want to - so please do not take anything in my post as personal it is not meant to be

There is two really simple solutions for anybody that has any issues with the service being provided by this or any website; deal with it or just stop using the site.

Nobody is under any obligation to be here. Everybody has a choice whether to use the site or not to. If you are unhappy with the service then just dont use it.

Nick has clearly stated he is looking into the problem.

Alternatively, if you are unhappy with the site then set up your own site and use a hosting company that will do a better job than the company that is currently hosting this site.

Nick has been using the same hosting company for several months and there has been no issues up until the past few weeks. Personally I have had no issues with disconnection or the service being provided.

From Nick's qoute:

So the reason for the server problems is because the host is upgrading/istalling new systems? So in the long run once they have done that and have those running i guess Funky should be smoother than it was before these issues a occured?

EDIT- By the way., thats the issue with abandons nowadays? Do we get them still, would i get one on my profile if i was unexpectedly logged out during a game. (as you can tell, i want to keep my profile without an abandoned stat)

Cheers

more than likely i would say so, unless everyone was logged out due to the server or both opponents logged out at the exact same time then the game never happened so you can't get an abandon stat.

Why not take a break for a couple of weeks then if it's bothering you that much, then just ask one of your friends to email you when everythings back to normal again!

Do remember that if it is a server problem, *everybody* gets disconnected. If you stay online, but your opponent gets logged off, or you get logged off but others stay on, then the server is perfectly fine, it is somewhere else in the many connections between player and server that has gone down.

You can not blaime a bad internet connection on the server, there must of being a fault at your end as I dont think there was any downtime from anybody else

And also to note; Since them bad few days a week or so ago I havnt had any problems so hopefully now all of the servers are updated there will be no more problems!
