Totally ignoring the fact?

How so?

All you mentioned in your post was that more people should apply to be a moderator. That's not going to help anything. You need to first sort out the current moderating team before adding even more to an already huge number of staff.

People have been making really fantastic points throughout this thread and they seem to be getting ignored.

I would love to apply again, but to be honest, I'd rather not wait 6 months before getting denied anyway.

The only people on this site who are actually good at moderating anyway are Baff, Blutch and Junster333. The rest in my opinion, (no offence), don't do there jobs very well.

I think the admins need a lesson on picking good moderators.

Without naming and shaming, the majority of moderators are hardly online, hardly contribute around the forum, hardly play games, and are quite unprofessional.

Being a moderator shouldn't just be about booting people that break the rules.. They should also be active and have a strong presence around the site. They should have good general knowledge so that they can help with various issues that members may be having.

I've just looked at the list of moderators and there are some who I've hardly ever even seen before.

I've also asked a few about their moderator applications, and the impression I got was that they just wrote a few sentences about why they want to moderate... Nobody can know if somebody is going to be good at moderating when all they've seen is a couple of sentences from them in an application..

There needs to be stricter guidelines for people to become moderators.

been doing this for over 4 years mate..and i have given this site a lot of hours..at one point i was on for about 10 hours a day..but you must remember most of us have day jobs..so we cant all be here every minute of the day and night

Yeh, I did state earlier there is a small handful that are the exception. However I am talking about the majority.

Yes it's all well and good saying you have day jobs, and nobody expects you to be on 24/7, but there are 22 members of staff, so I'm afraid that excuse doesn't really cut it.

There are sites 10 times bigger than this, with less than half of the amount of staff, who manage absolutely fine.

Admins need to know how often each moderator is likely to be online.

I just checked each moderators profile, and why is it that around half of the mods are from the UK???
In fact, to make matters worse, pretty much all of the mods are from Europe!!! There is hardly any time difference at all for countries in Europe, so surely they should be all seen around quite often?

Jack I got to agree again with you.

The problem is when you get alot of English/Europe mods they all tend to work the same hours they also tend to be on at the exact same time around 8pm you will get 3/4 mods all on together but 2/3pm theres nuthing

Snooker.. You need to start looking in the direction of active day users as when the chat room is busy 2/3pm and no mod is online this is where the problem is caused,

RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Also to make my point stronger 231 playing and 36 members in the bar and not 1 mod online and it's nearly 16:30 this is where you need to sort it out.

Do not be fooled!

When you search for a mod, it tells you "there is no visible mod online". There is one very important and carefully chosen word in that sentence.

Do not be fooled!

Remember all Moderators and Admin are volunteers. We give our time free of charge to try and help the site. We enjoy funky just as much as you lot and have feelings too!

Yea, But if you are Volunteering to give up time every now and then to help a ever growing, and a site devoloping all the time it does make you wonder why volunteer for such an important role if you can only come on once every 1-3 month?

But who cares if a Mod/Admin is using another Name and yeah you got the complaint button

But thats not going help you if you are in a game with a abusive member you need is it...

Report Abuse takes like 2 weeks get solved

And Mods/Admins should not be allowed 2 names

And it's a joke Nick tries hard but when I was a mod I worked nights so I was on all day but theres none of that around now a days.

I have been digging in the funky snooker library for information on age old myths! Yet again I have found another myth or fantasy that is beyond the realms of imagination

Taking to the Nazi side?
Almighty doesn't lose, you nymphomaniac!

^ R u serious LOL. How ignorant are you. Cant believe i've been put in a similar category of a Nazi sympathizer as i see it lol. The greatest forces the world has ever known have generally been defeated and disbanded in the end. I'm not going to start writing an essay because i'll end up talking down to you. To say that the Nazi's weren't a great force though is just ignorant and naive. You clearly haven't a clue or else you wouldn't have posted. And onto being a nymphomaniac lol. Do you even have a clue what that means, i mean really do you. For 1 the term is generally aimed at females with a sexual lust or desire that exceeds normal levels. I think i'm missing 1 X chromosome to fit into tht catagory but i do have a high sexual desire at times but who doesn't ryt
And finally this is coming from a little boy who likes to make videos of deodrant wars on youtube. yes i have seen it -blush blush

Yet again a thread that meant well has descended into complete fantasy for the most part, and completely off topic for the rest.

It is dead simple - we can only recruit out of the applicants who apply. There is no conspiracy as to where someone is from, what they have done before etc etc. Each application is judged on its merits and the users history with the sites.

Everyone who applies gets an "accepted" or "declined" email. This is hard coded into the process and something even admin cannot circumvent, so don't believe the "I never heard anything" stories.

As those who have been around a few years will know, these things tend to go in cycles. People who are very active apply, get a mod position, then real life kicks in be it work or education and the online time, rightly, gets reduced. Then in time, a "new generation" mature and a spurt of activity happens again. There is no minimum time requirement, and rightly so. It is far more important to have good mods on less, than unsuitable mods on all the time.

Also remember a moderator does not have to be "online" to be doing their bit to help, and due to the extra admin coverage since the sites merged it has been a very long time since any complaint sent about a user has not been dealt with within 24hrs.

So, if you feel there is a lack of staff, the solution is simple, encourage anyone you think may be suitable to apply. The more applicants, the more mods, so the more coverage.

Since it's that simple - Capped.
