ive seen a few people talking about how the standards have dropped, whilst others have said they have risen.. i think they have risen simply because you have new players with new all time high ranks, for example

whocares8x8 - 984 in Original

brentologist - 983 in Original

Also in arcade you dont have as many 900s in there, now a days you dont even have to be virt to be in the top 10, hence im 897 and 7th in the rankings, i think this is because there as so many good players fighting for that achievment no one is safe

anyones else opinion on whether this has dropped or risen ?

they are never on now a days, maybe now and then.. but so many new players are there now, you cant pick who is this the best.

those 4 names, damee and destiny will always be at the top.

only person i can say for sure of the new breed to deserves to be there is whocares8x8, maybe chase, curt and peg too.

others like yourself, brent, tyler and others is about halfway there

at this age its hard to pick a winner as tournaments is the face of the site now which means its harder to rank (which i don't mind)

oh yeah i agree there, damee, destiny are the two best on here

whocares8x8 is the best overall player at the moment on the game i think

Manners have dropped a level, The forum has dropped lower than the titantic, Although it was never that good, after all it is a funkysnooker forum it shouldn't be very good.
I only think people can comment who have been on here for a few years if the playing standards have gone up. So i can't comment but
Whocares8x8, ccfc1927 and fire_sword seem to be the best online members at the moment though.

Standards have improved in orig in my opinion.. since i've been playing i've never really seen destiny play often. But people like whocares8x8 and arpeggi are both consistant break builders and you dont want to give them a chance

It's hard to differentiate standards from the past, since ranking has become a lot more difficult to maintain with ranked double-points tourneys. A single loss against an 800 takes away 13 points from my orig rank.
That's why I like to compare using my favourite stat- games/cent!

Note: Problems with this stat are
1. Resets (tried to exclude everyone who recently reset).
2. Friendlies: Today, all friendlies are included in the stats. If I remember correctly, back in the day friendlies were not included in games played, but cents were added! Big advantage for the oldies.
3. Arc- Since a 60 break is enough to win, cents are less important and therefore less of an accurate stat.


Judging by the numbers above, I would say that the standard has dropped significantly in arcade, has remained about even in reg, and has sharply risen in orig!

amazing stats there. the only problem i think is that in order to reflect a true stat for a player it would include really only important games.

so many plyers play so much that there is a massive majority of games where you simply dont care or try or also your watching tv , writing in the forum that your not playing to the standard capable.

i miss so many shots because im on a different page reading or watchin somethin, so i click back on the timer and miss.

so obviously that rules out cents more etc.

just my opinion on this game youll never see a true reflection of a players ability in there stats. it all depends on there mind set, boredom level and distractions around them as to how well they will perform.

I have been reading through the 1st ever threads on here and tbh, the are awful, if the same thing was to be posted today, alot of them would be capped, naming and shaming on the forums wasn't a problem then, in fact I think I saw a thread entitled

"NAME AND SHAME THE CHEATERS"

and there was a pretty decent list of the cheaters of the time

Also one more thing, I have noticed the forums have improved alot when I started posting, odd that lol

personally i think naming and shaming should be allowed, especially players who have been abusive for no reason!!

true but if they are on forum then its their own fault, if they are called away or disconnected then i agree it could be.

I would say if they miss more (for whatever reason) then they are not playing to the standard others are. It's like that in any sport- if you're distracted, you don't play as well.
The numbers above measure consistency. If a player is consistently distracted/ doesn't play well, he is not as good. Being able to perform exceptionally every now and then is not an indicator of good play for me- you have to do it consistently.

I honestly do think its fallen, you dont have the same players around that could dominate a certain discipline anymore eg. magical_cue in arcade or arpeggi in original, its not the same anymore, yes there is others nowaydays that are usually around virt in both of these games but none have distanced themselves from the rest and i don't think thats likely to happen anytime soon either.

Yeah, but we can't judge his stats, since he's reset and used a variety of usernames. I mentioned that in my lovely stats post

yeah i know, i know damee has around 50 orig maxes like destiny has, with frames per max destiny would be a better player out of the 2.

Aye but peg doesnt play half as much and as a result doesnt dominate half as much really..

And on reg im sure im not the only one to notice, not many high ranked players play anything besides tournies anymore..
