i reckon there is alot of players who would have more centuries if they werent always taking chances for a maximum.
even when i know the chances are it could end my break i just risk it anyway.
the likes of ryan and co probably due to overplaying the game were always going for the top prize the maximum break and actually in return making there cents/games ratio look worse.
if theres not players that agree with this point ill be amazed

I think it's important to remember that the game has been made slightly easier with the update a long time ago. Before this update, if you lined up a shot it would normally go in a completely different place but now this is fixed. For me that definitely made the game a lot easier and a lot more playable.
Back in the day, centuries on original were quite hard for me but now if I play for a couple of hours, I can get at least 5 or 6 and I don't think it's because I've got better.
However, it annoys me when I see threads like this. I know it's just harmless discussion but I think it's more important to look to the players that play now rather than those who use to play, and that's coming from an old schooler

also old school players HAD to use outline for everything, nowadays people can choose more accurate cursors like default and ghost, people who can use System Cursor i take my hat off to them (and i don't even have a hat lol).

There isn't as many top, top players around now I would say. But the general play of intermediates, adepts and professionals have increased. If you don't pot from a smash break on arcade now, your goosed regardless of who your playing.

Good points above - in any discussion like this it is vital to remember how much the gameplay has improved over time.
Sure, It would be interesting to roll the game back 5 years and see how many of the top players can hit centuries like phased, trickshot, derp, jedi etc could do, but ultimately those who could, would, after they adjust to the game.

I've had about 80 to be honest, about 60 on reg and who cares about arcade
It's an impossible one to call to be honest. Years ago a century on original was more rare than a 147 is these days (a lot rarer, I remember getting #1 on orig cents with like only 20 on my original account)
Spin was totally different then, the aimers were different and the accuracy of the game was generally lower. Standards are higher now, but with better conditions to play in.
Hard one to call

yeah i know, i know damee has around 50 orig maxes like destiny has, with frames per max destiny would be a better player out of the 2.

I would definitely say the standards have risen! I did however prefer the good old days where the original max hadn't been made and spursjay was on like 15 century's and that was amazing at the time.
The challenge of bettering the highest break was always there and i think once the maximum was achieved i lost interest

Since iv joined, I think standards have fallen tbh, maybe thats just because im far better than i was when i started and players seemed better to me back then, but i still think standards have dropped in the last year or so.
Definitely some of the players that used to dominate have left and thats mainly the reason i believe.

I echo what Jay said.
From the little I have witnessed, Adepts seem to play much better than Adepts from when I played, and Pros play more like Virtuosos, - perhaps this is to do with the changed ranking system that happened a few years back now?
However I think there are less truly dominant players about since the likes of ste_efc, sean_paul, virtuoso107, Damee etc...
However I'm not really qualified to talk because when people mention the current greats, other than Destiny (who I have barely seen play) I don't know who they are!

Well i think standards have improved i havent been playing all that long but what i can see there are maxes flying in arcade all the time .. ive even seen adepts with maxes on arcade lol .... but the standard in reg has definately dropped sulli hardly plays anymore damee although is back doesnt seem to play all that muchd destiny very rarely but ccfc1927 is banging in the cents enough for everyone i just think orig and arcade have improved but to repeatwhat nicko said outside tournamets nobody really plays regular maybe thats because people dont want to play friendly and its onlymaybe newbies that play regular i dont know

It's not that the standard has improved it's the game that has been made much easier. If all the old players came back no doubt they would be bangin cents and maxes in just like the new top players are doin now

I think since game has been made a tiny bit easier, the higher calibre of players have left, maybe thats just a coincidence I wouldn't know. But its an odd one!

To be honest, if you look at some of the best players, I know the players I were competing against, the likes of
Ste, Damee, Virty107, Lyle and various others... We were all like 14 years old.
I think that was the only difference, is that these guys were like 14 or even younger. I dont think the play has changed much, I still remember Arcade being exactly the same but maybe spin and pace is a little better which makes a big difference.
But I dont see many 14 year olds being the best players on the site.
I think with age and maturity you gain better experience and knowledge of the game.
But also, I would like to see everyone using a standard monitor, that sort the men from the boys.
