ive a wee idea for a new type of tourney,start this with using original as an example ok folks

here goes,
what if all the winners of the original tourneys through the week go on to play in a champions original tourney at end of week tourney where there are no time limit on a shot,because some prefere the 10 seconds a shot game ,some like the 20 seconds a shot game..with no time limit and only winners of an origiinal tourney invited to play,we truly will get a champion of champion,,with no wasters trying to spoil the game by never playing a shot

I love the idea, but I don't think it would work quite as smoothly as you might think.

Firstly, no time limit will no doubt cause annoyance. It's main purpose is to make sure people don't just wander off in the middle of a game, leaving their opponent bored out of their mind.
Also it would be hard to arrange a tournament like this. What if for example one of the people who had the chance to enter, was busy on the day that the tournament was on? There wouldn't be a way of pleasing everybody, and in my opinion, I don't think you would find the true champion of champions, due to little hiccups like this which will happen all of the time.

Problem all of them coming on at the same time though.

It just sounds very unreliable and has been mentioned before Tim.

If there were say 30 different users that won an original tournament during the week and say the "Best of the Best" tournament was held every Sunday...

What happens if say, none of the winners are online when the tournament is being played? Or if only a few of the winners were online to participate.

It would be just a normal tournament with maybe only 4 entrants.

So for that reason Tim - I'm out.

Program the tournament to only invite those that won the tournaments? To use cue_power's example of 30 winners, if 10 are online then invite those ten. Basically, as long as there is more than one winner on then send the invites. I'm thinking this could work out whereby all those who couldn't turn up are DQ'd without losing any points or having a loss against their profile but those online can still have the tournament go ahead.

Failing that, work out how many tournaments can be won during the week, create a tournament at the end of the week with the correct amount (eg 30 entries..). Then invite all tournament winners and where a tournament winner can't be invited, invite the next best finisher eg runner up.

i think it could work ,,my first post could be modified to work,,we shouldent dismiss it though...who wouldent like to be that weeks champion of champion....you might even get a gold star for it

plus to get in to the tourney,people will try that bit harder through the normal tourneys to get to the elite table ,making for better tourneys all round

there is only 4 original tourneys a day ,x 7 28 players in total and thats only if diferent people win every tourney witch dosent happen ,,,people win 3 /4 /5 a week witch brings the number down to a reasonable amount of entrants

there wouldent be 30 different players..there are only 28 tourneys a week,,with folk winning more than one witch brings the numbers down

I dont know if this idea can properly work computer wise...

Maybe on a Sunday, if it is feasable.. just have a Champions only Tournament, so if you won a Tournament that week, in any discipline, only those people can join, and it can be in a RANDOM discipline.

Why would you want a tournament for only winners of a tournament? You would probably end up with a tournament consisting of 3 players. What would that prove?

How many tournament winners are there in a week? When I used to play it wasn't that many!

How about a unique tourn, where this combines each of the games we have on here and have an overall champ or winner per month. Would this then help give a feeling to the overall funkysnooker player rather than all these who is best threads i read

Whilst I like this idea in principle, there is another point I would like to raise.

Should it only be ranked tournament winners who enter, or all winners? (some friendly tournaments have more rounds than ranked tournies, so surely the win counts just as much, in principle).

Furthermore, last night there were 2 ranked tournaments with only 1 entrant.... so, default wins.
It could be seen as unfair for such "winners" to participate, don't you think..?

Without even looking im going to Bank on them being Random and Carom. They need SCRAPPING. As does Original Marathon. Ive been saying this since 1999

Original marathon usually attracts about a dozen players every time. It lasts much longer than the rest, not over in 10 min. Should definitely stay.


You can't exactly comment on carom when you haven't even played one game on it. However I do feel the 9pm is a bit pointless. One a day for carom is enough.

nah they can stay just because you don't like them doesn't mean others don't, i hate power snooker but im not saying theres only 5 entries in power lets get rid of it.

as for the idea you could just create an event in snooker events forum maybe? as we have more than enough tournaments already.

9pm Carom tourny. Peak Time. 1 Entrant. Says it all, I have played Carom too but that doesnt really matter, it doesnt get the numbers, NEITHER does Random. Scrap

As for Original Marathon, I, Like many others on the site do not join it BECAUSE its too long. When 1 frame lasts on average 15 minutes... you can have possibly 5 frames in the final alone. Its a Tournament that lasts far too long., hence why it doesnt get many numbers Constantly.. It peaked to begin with, but now its old news and needs to go.

Just because Carom and Original Marathon tournaments doesn't bring a lot of entrants, it doesn't mean that they should be scrapped.. They are both a big part of this game, and Carom and Original are games of skill and you need very good judgement on both, don't hate on it just because you can't play it.

The random should be scrapped. Although I love random tourneys, if nobody plays them, they need to go.
Carom- the 19:00 tourney got 10 participants, so definitely don't scrap.
